Who do you think can battlefight better? Yates/Keenum or Schaub? Schaub just isn't a battlefighter anymore. He used to be a great battlefighter. But these days, he just crumble instead. Yates may not be as accurate or read defenses or knows the offense as well as Schaub, but I believe in his battlefighting capabilities a lot more.
TO BE A ****ING MAN ON THE FIELD AND RUN YOUR ASS LIKE A MAN AND GET YARDAGE AND MAYBE RUNNING FOR A TD OR MAYBE A 1ST DOWN AND JUST BEING ****ING MANLY INSTEAD OF PICK 6'ING AND GETTING SACKED EVERY ****ING TIME. Okay, sorry. I had to let my anger out. Last weeks loss is still affecting me. My apologies for the cursing.
Sometimes yes, but rarely. More often they turn out to be bad. Only exceptions currently playing right now are Brady and Romo.
I think it's an issue of if we have a guy on the bench that could potentially be better than Schaub, put him in. Yates, I don't believe he's the answer. Keenum might not be either, but his upside is high enough to where I'd take a chance on him at this point. Schaub is regressing to the point of losing games for us now.
With PRESEASON recievers and PRESEASON O-linemen. If this season starts to go south (2-2 is not going south), I think you put Keenum in there and see what we have.
Considering we could realistically be 0-4 while losing the last two (one in blowout fashion and the other blowing a nice lead) and our QB is in the midst of the worst slump of his career coming off three straight games with pick-6s, I'd consider it safe to say our season has already started to go south. Not saying it can't go back north as it wouldn't surprise me if Schaub turned back into the same QB he was at this time last year, but we're definitely trending in the wrong direction right now.
That's all I'm saying. Believe me, I've already unlocked my panic button and have my index finger placed directly on top of it......but I won't push it until we are, say, 2-4 or 3-5. We started 3-3 a few years ago and everyone wanted to fire the whole team. We went on to finish 12-4 and win the division. And of course, there's that Oiler team that started 1-4 and went on to win the next 11 games. Not predicting an 11-game winning streak, just saying 2-2 is a little early to push the panic button.
Yates will probably never be more than a slightly younger version of Schaub. Keenum has more upside, but zero experience. I don't think either should start until the Texans are officially eliminated from the playoffs. If/When that happens, Schaub should be benched, and Yates and Keenum should be given a chance to show the Texans that drafting another QB won't be necessary. And if they stink up the field, at least the 2014 draft is supposed to be QB heavy.
The thing is, with Houston fans, it's not the backup QB they're clamoring for, it's the damn 3rd stringer.
Do a poll: Do you think Keenum should replace Schaub in the starting lineup? 1. Schaub should continue to start. 2. Start Keenum now! 2. Schaub is coming unglued, and Keenum shows promise, but it's too soon to be replacing your starting QB with a rookie. And see which gets the most votes. The people who want to bench Schaub are in the minority even among those who think he's days as a Texan are numbered. In fact, my biggest concern is that Keenum is rushed. He needs to practice, prepare, and patiently wait for his chance. The last thing we want is to toss a rookie into the middle of a QB controversy.
Maybe educated fans would pick the last option, but I bet if we did a poll on clutchfans number 2 would win.
Keenum is no Bucky Richardson, come on. Keenum is very talented, got a raw deal in the draft, has huge upside. He just needs a chance to prove it. I truly believe in my heart of hearts that he is the Texan's future starter. If not, he is going to another team and haunt the Texans for years. Could he be the next Drew Breese? Yes he could.
It's way too early to say Keenum is a future star, though his preseason performance gave no reason to believe he can't eventually be a capable starter.
There is a reason Brees was drafted in the 2nd round and Keenum went undrafted. It's because Brees can make all of the NFL throws despite his height. Keenum can't and will be likely exposed if put in a starting role. I'm willing to give him a shot though since I'm done with Schaub.
