The coaching staff wanted Harden as the primary ball handler. You're acting like the decision was entirely up to Lin.

AB is a better basketball player, PB is a better athlete

Lots of talent on this team. Jones looks ready to take the next step. Casspi's shot seems off. Dwight seems slow. Lin seems fast. AB will make this team. Hard to tell much from a scrimmage, but we appear to be very deep. Excited to see how this all shakes out.

Because fans generally still look at basketball as a 5 one-on-one matchups instead of 5-on-5.

It's fine. This season with Howard/Asik manning the inside, people will see Beverley's hounding type of defense really affecting opponents because they can't punish it anymore.

You're acting like Lin has to obey the coaching staff's every command.

Perhaps you should look at the rosters. That's where I found the answer. 5 out of 7 on the white team are Rockets last season. Black team has only 3. Don't drag everything toward a PG debate.

After watching, Harden and Lin are still the only capable playmakers.

Bev and Brooks still have limited court vision and only make safe passes.

Also, Howard impresses me with his free throw. Hopefully it translates well into the season too.

Maybe. But McHale isn't cutting him. Yesterday McHale gave an interview wherein he mentioned Casspi twice as a possible 4. In today's interview (nba.com/rockets) McHale again mentioned Casspi (again, twice!) as a possible option at the 4 in a small ball lineup. McHale's apparently big on Casspi. Casspi stays.

I thought it was the Coach's job to draw a game plan, then the players job to execute the game plan....

Have you read assistant coach Chris Fitch's interview yet, out today on nba.com/rockets? He says the Rockets plan this season is to cut down on Harden ISO's and take the ball out of his hands to allow for a more free-flowing offense, even in late game situations.

Totally not true. The Rockets coaching staff is not like that. Lin had his chances to be more assertive, he just wasn't. I agree, obviously they chose to put the ball in Harden's hands the most, but McHale gives the players a lot more freedom to make the decisions of who shoots on each possession compared to other nba teams that call every play specifically for this or that player.

That's why you're not an NBA player my friend. Do you think Michael Jordan's coaches drew up a game plan and then Jordan followed it even if he didn't agree with it?

Yes and like I mentioned before McHale and the Coaching staff, were also on the white team. The coaching staff was more focused on the white team.

I would love to see both AB and Bev make the team, why can't they both be on the squad?

The following would be one helluva 1-12. Add any 13th player you want, and a couple more on the inactive list:

    center:
    asik
    howard
    camby

    forward:
    parsons
    dmo
    greg smith
    f garcia
    t jones

    guard:
    harden
    lin
    beverley
    brooks
    garcia
