From the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee:
    Senate Finance Committee:

31 Bipartisan meetings, numerous bipartisan hearings, bill passed out of committee with a bipartisan vote.

Which is exactly why Space Ghost was making claims that weren't based in reality, or what actually happened.

But he's far from alone. There's a huge myth out there believed by many in the anti-Obama crowd that believe the ACA was forced down everyone's throat with no attempt at making it a bi-partisan venture.

Increasingly, the facts have a liberal bias.

More of the same old same old.
If Obama is such a non-compromising dictator where is the public option?

I'm usually one who looks at both sides but this is just pure spin that Obama is mostly to blame or even equally to blame for the shutdown. The only compromise position that the Tea Party wing of the House have put forwards is to do away with the ACA. That isn't compromise.

If a vote for a clean continuing resolution was put up in the House right now it would pass comfortably. Pretty much all of the Democrats would vote for it along with a significant portion of the Republicans. It is really only one part of the House of the house that is holding this up.

This is obviously the Republicans doing - using the gov't shutdown and default as a negotiating tactic - a means to get what they want done because they can not do it via legislation. It's a way to try to congress gov't without owning the presidency nor the senate.

This is bigger than Obama and the current situation. If the Dems waiver, then in future, anytime one side has one of the houses or the presidency they can threaten a gov't shurt down/default to gain leverage.

Obama is to blame by compromising the first time around. He's let the Republicans know he will cave/compromise - they think he is weak. Now we see what his past nice guy attitudes have led to.

The country knows better, they understand the Republicans game, or at least most do. But people might forget a year from now.

I think if the country defaults and markets crash though, Republicans are in very big trouble. They are playing a dangerous game here, and playing it when the Dems have very little lose by standing firm. In fact, they are somewhat morally obligated not to compromise for the sake of ending the threat of shutdown and default as a means to gain leverage ever again.

I hope Obama/Dems are smart enough not to cave this time. But our country might go through a lot of pain for that. Still, this is bigger than anyone and much bigger than Obamacare. It's bigger because it represents how democracy is going to work in an increasing partisan gov't. If our gov't can not work together to tackle major issues, then our country is doomed to lose it's place as a super power. So yeah, it will be interesting to say the least.

Hey Bigtexxx, Barack Obama will be the president of the United States until the end of said term. And there is NOTHING you can do about it. Let that sink in.

If the Republicans want to repeal or defund The Affordable Care Act (which they like to call Obamacare), then they need to figure out a way to win general elections and Senate races. Unfortunately, they are increasingly having trouble with that, so they stick to getting favorable state legislatures to gerrymander House districts to maximize their #s in the House and argue that the American people voted to keep them in to fight against everything linked to Obama. Fine, that may be legal, but that very act has made them more scared of their own party (challenges from the right) than the other side, making them that much less willing to work across the aisle.
Just frustrating to see government paralyzed by the extremist views of a few. I don't particularly care for the Democratic party over the last 10 years, but the Republicans are just embarrassing themselves at this point.

I'm embarrassed we still have an anti-progress, anti-science, anti-equality, anti-public safety, vote-suppressing, robber baron element in the US government in the 21st Century. It's like trying to move into the future with concrete boots on.
