Are you talking about the whopping 10 pounds of bulk that Dwight has on Jones? Dwight is a freak athlete, no doubt about it. But its not like Jones is an undersized player. Listed height is misleading because different players gain artificial height through shoes. For example, Blake Griffin is listed at 6'10 and most fans consider him prototypical size for a power forward. Barefoot he and Jones are an identical 6'8.5, but Jones rounds down from 6'9.5. They both also have an identical 35 inch vertical. Jones has a 3 inch arm span advantage. Al Jefferson, who is considered a center, has identical measurements to Terrance Jones. Kevin Love, a clutchfans favorite, is an inch shorter barefoot. All this is to say, Jones is not undersized. We have to remember that guys like Dirk and Duncan have plus height. Even then, these "7 footers" are really 6'10 guys in barefeet. Jones has the bulk, speed, and size to keep up with any 4 in the league.

In fact during the summer leagues, the commentators kept talking about how big Jones is. How he looks like a man amongst boys. The only thing that might make Dwight and Terrance appear slightly below average relative to their position is height, and as you pointed out, it is not all about height. They both possess great arm-spans and verticals. Trust me, the last thing our opponents will be thinking next year is how small our front court is.

Anyone calling Jones undersized for a PF don't know what they are talking about. Jones is .5" shorter than Howard. Howard even refferred to him as a "big guy" during one of the interviews.

    Lesson learned:

I do have to say that I thought he was shorter when he played at Kentucky. I think it must have been that Kentucky had a lot of tall guys so he didn't stick out like a similar sized guy would at a normal college.

I agree with you. Terrence "The Stomper" Jones isn't undersized, just underutilized.

Although, to be fair, Howard calling Jones "big guy" when they're actually nearly identical in height is more an indicator that Howard is a little "undersized", height-wise, for a center. Probably about 6'9.5". This was made obvious when Dwight stood next to the legends on the day of his signing.

Of course, Howard's a strong dude and doesn't LOOK short thanks to his bulk.

    T. Jones isn't a tweener. I don't think he will spend much time at the 3. I think people see him drive or dribble the ball and assume he's auditioning for small forward. The dude is huge.

I hope he or Dmo comes along - but they are both young and lacking in different areas..

I made a very simple comment.

Dwight is obviously stronger and more bulky than jones. There are other traits as to why Howard and jones aren't equal.

Your rant was about as irrelevant as it gets.

If DMo and Jones improve their three point shooting from 2012-2013 to 2013-2014 as much as PPat and Morris did from 2011-2012 to 2012-2013, they will be the two best three point shooters in the NBA in percentage. I expect they will have an improvement similar to Parsons which would put them almost where PPat and MMorris was.

I don't think one or two inches really matter in the NBA. It's more about how much weight to speed ratio you have when battling in the post. Seriously you're telling me a 6'9 guy will have problems against a 6'10? One inch don't make that much of a difference.

Maybe I'm wrong, but during summer league play it sure seemed like he had a nice touch at the 3 point line. Midrange jumpers are frowned upon for the ROX aren't they? Either dunks or 3's is what's preached from Morey to McHale isn't it?

You guys are way obsessed with Inches here.

Player measurements - (during their career... not now obviously)

    Dennis Rodman - 6'7" - 210 pounds
    Karl Malone - 6'9" - 250 pounds
    Shawn Kemp - 6'10" - 230 pounds
    Kevin McHale- 6'10" - 210 pounds
    Charles Barkley - 6'6" - 252 pounds

    Terrence Jones - 6'9" - 250 pounds

Terrence Jones is just as big, & tall as almost all of the great power forwards of all time. HE'S BIG enough... stop obsessing.

If Jones comes in with decent outside shooting and decent defense, I think the Rockets would have him be their permanent PF(until of course they trade for a star ;)). He brings that explosiveness which they team's other potential PFs lack.

    Height doesn't really matter.

It's all about wingspan and standing reach.

That said, Dwight has a 9'4 standing reach compared to Jones' 8'11. Though, Dwight did come in this league at 18, so his measurements are probably underestimated because he likely grew a bit once he joined the league.

jones just need to come in knocking down the midrange and 3pointer and we have a answer at the PF, he does everything else above average if you ask me, we dont need a star.
