Hey guys.. I am assuming some of you are pretty sharp in the 12-volt department..

I was wondering if you would know why this is happening:

I listen to AM pretty much 90% of the time in the car. Whenever I have my lights turned on, I get a pretty bad static over the radio when listening to the AM station. As soon as I turn the lights off, the static stops. I am assuming this is indicating a short somewhere. Or is this just normal?

The car is new, just got it in June, and I guess the question is, is this something the car definitely should NOT be doing, and would it be worth taking in and telling them to fix it.

    Thanks :)

Sounds like an issue caused by a bad ground.

Nonsense. ALL cars should make static noises on the AM radio when lights are turned on. In fact, it's a feature. ;)

 In all seriousness, it's just a cable touching a place it shouldn't be... sort of like my gym teacher in middle school when we were all dressing up in the locker room, and the lights went off... and... wait, what where we talking about?
