Howard's a power player. A poor man's Shaq but as he ages this training from Hakeem will help him a lot in years to come

    what does this mean?

"Now they need to be guards who can catch and look to the paint first."

No, basically we will still run & gun but when we get in the half court sets we have someone who can draw a double team down low & also score in the post. We didn't have that last year.

Asik played great, but he has bad hands.

Cause last year once someone caught a ball on the perimeter they looked towards the basket and launched it. This year they need to be a little more disciplined and check to see if Howard has good post position before throwing up a shot.

Of course, Jordan can't lose against anyone but another Jordan clone. Kobe really copied every facet of Jordan, starting with his incommensurable ego.

But it was funny as hell watching him keep rebounding his own misses.

poor Asik. he got really screwed by our organization

    - he came in and average a DOUBLE DOUBLE. almost as many rebounds as Dwight and played amazing d.

    - he drastically improved his weakness (FT shooting) to a much higher percentage than Dwight

    - he never complains and from all the PR I read, he seems like a pretty good/normal guy. no hookers no baby mama's etc

    - now Dwight coming here, Dwights get a parade and Hakeem is working with him. where was Hakeem to help out Asik?

    - now no one talks about him and just complains about his hands

    poor guy :(

I know. How dare our organization give him more money than any other team was willing and afford him the opportunity to show the rest of the league that he is a top notch starting center who is worth much more than he is currently getting paid. F'n Rockets...

The story of Dwight Howard's career....

Howard - "Give me the ball in the post....give the ball in the post....give me the ball in the post..."

....but he is not a very good post up player.

If the Rockets and Dwight think that Howard's post play will take them to the promised land then lets all buckle up for a rough ride.

The correct way to use Howard is as a finisher, pick and roll facilitator, offensive put backs, and run some post plays via him to keep the defense honest. There are going to some nights where everything will be clicking for him in the post but dont expect consistency. I dont think he will ever develop into a dominant post scorer where you can just dump the ball into him everytime and expect good things to happen.

If he was going to be a dominant post player, he would have become one a long time ago.

Dwight Howard needs to come to terms with himself and understand that there are various ways in which he can score to get his numbers. It does not have to be with him running things from the post.

    But will he?

I agree to a point. I also think our offense was fine already and I hope that Howard will come work hard on the defensive end while adding an aerial game and a pick and roll game to our arsenal, rather than try to get his post-up game going (unless it's looking good, in which case, let's give it to him all day long!). But having said that.. if Howard wants some post-ups, we gotta give him some post-ups. Simple as that. That is what having a superstar is like most of the time. Gotta keep them happy and motivated to get the most out of him. I just hope that McHale doesn't try to force the post game into their playbook over and over again, like I fully expect him to, even when it's not particularly effective, lol (just my opinion: I'm not high on McHale's game instincts).
