Mj was a beast, he had more hops, moves, heart than lebron. Even though he was smaller he could abuse him in the block.

Surprisingly MJ and LBJ are the same career wise for BPG, but LBJ has more assists as a forward than MJ as a guard.

I think obviously if you take out MJs Washington numbers then everyting changes.

Lebron is great right now with a post game. Its a mental thing with MJ. Supreme confidence and he backed it up. Yall think KGs trash talk was horibble. MJ and players like Reggie Miller didn't care. He would get in his head. To Ten, MJ wins 10 to 4 n that's being generous.

 

There were a lot more possessions per game in the 80's as teams played a faster pace. Taking that into consideration its still VERY VERY close although I personally lean toward 'Bron because of his ability to play any position for you on offense and guard 4 positions on defense.

 

Oh please, MJ ... I think you are the greatest basketball player in the world, but there some players that would give you fits and give you a couple of beat downs one on one. Remember, you were lucky enough to play with Pippen and often did not have to guard a studly SF/PF on the other team.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Magic Johnson, yet ... he could post MJ all day, though Magic may not be able to guard him the same one-on-one. I could also throw in Dominique Wilkins who used to light him up quite a bit in their earlier days. You have to consider Wilkins was mostly dealing with Pippen in their later matchups, post late 80s. I almost can say the same for Larry Bird, who could and did give MJ quite a few fits, especially if he gets hot trigger. I hate to say, I think he'd struggle against someone like Carmelo who can shoot and does have a good size advantage.


I think MJ would probably beat Lebron, like 5-6 out of 10 times at best. You can bring up hops, skills, heart, championships, and whatever else. Still in one-on-one competition, you have to play defense and going against a player who easily has a good 35 to 40 pound advantage and is comparable athletically. Defensively is almost wash, you could argue MJ is better in certain situations, just as much as you could argue LeBron is better in other situations.

Kobe is kind of obvious, as stiff competition.


I actually think a few bigs would be skilled enough to really put MJ through the ringer, especially Hakeem Olajuwon and Kevin Garnett. Both players can slow him down defensively, yet remain unstoppable on offense. MJ wouldn't stand chance against either one-on-one in regards to defense.

I think MJ would reign very successful against other shooting guards, outside of Kobe. Still, I think the more well-rounded guards would give him a little bit of trouble, like Dwyane Wade, Mitch Richmond, Jerry West, or a younger Tracy McGrady. I even think offensive maestros, like Earl Monroe, Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, Reggie Miller, or Jeff Malone would be a little difficult.

Even in his career, MJ did not every single matchup against all-star quality opposing guards, he had nights where he got toasted or beaten squarely. Though, he won a majority of those matchups, which is what would happen in one-on-one competitions.

I'm not sure what the problem is here...He's likely right. Jordan was strong and quick enough to defend Lebron. Lebron would need to go to the post and although he's improved, he doesn't have it down to the point Kobe and MJ did/do. That's why MJ says Kobe may beat him.

For those calling his a douche, that's why he was so great. Most greats are arrogant mfers, they just display it in different ways. Remember Dream once said Robinson's MVP was really his. You can argue he was right because he went out and destroyed Robinson, but would he have done so, if he didn't believe he was the true MVP beforehand? didn't more people believe Drob was MVP, prior to it? You've got to have unwavering confidence to be consistently great against so many different opponents.

 

It's obvious, and even Lebron admitted MJ is the GOAT. No need to bring it up very often though IMO.

I think his interview was rather than asserting dominance over Lebron directly, it was also indirect by saying that only Kobe can match up to him, and Lebron > Kobe so if Kobe can't beat him, then Lebron is a much worse player than both him + Kobe
