[Chron] Omer Asik suffers strained calf muscle at Rockets' camp

Wow in the beginning we had 4 centers, now we're down to one. Thankfully none of the injuries are serious.

 

Without Omer, they certainly would not have made the playoffs, and they would probably be one of the worst teams in the league.

That was the case when Omer was on the bench. When he was resting, the team was one of the worst in the NBA.

 

Unless it's the Knicks, where day-to-day can mean anywhere between "he's out for the season" or "he just got his leg amputated"

They're no fun? A lot of people can't afford an MRI since it's often not covered by insurers. Asik is incredibly fortunate to have access to an MRI.

There is zero pain involved with getting an MRI. It is noisy and boring, but you can bring a pair of earplugs and in some cases watch tv or read a magazine.

"Respect" is a two way street. Asik could show a little more respect for the organization that's paying him a GUARANTEED $25.5 million and gave him the opportunity to start and showcase his skills as a full time starter for an entire season.

The rockets haven't even asked him to be a reserve; they've floated the idea of starting BOTH howard and asik, rather than stating that asik would be howard's reserve.

Despite his enormous guaranteed contract, despite the faith the org has shown in him, and despite the fact that the org has stated that both asik and howard will likely start for at least part of the season, asik has decided that he wants to feel insulted and hold a grudge.

I have no sympathy for this guy. He has not been slighted or insulted in any way whatsoever.

A lot of us, in whatever field of work we are in, just perform our jobs giving nothing less than 100% despite any disagreements we may have with our superiors.

I love Asik, but his comtempt vis a vis Howard is disappointing and perplexing to say the least. It is not as if Asik could play the whole 48 minutes anyway and knowing what a sieve our D was when he rested, he must have known we needed another big man. Just share the minutes and play for the team. The team.
