I'm selling my tickets to the Incarnate Word game this Saturday at 6:00pm in Huntsville. Row 5, section E, seats 1 & 2. Right on the 50 yard line. Good seat neighbors. How about $30 for the pair? OBO. If you trust in the efficiency of the USPS I can mail the tickets to you today and just trust that you'll likewise send the cash*, or we can meet up. I work in the energy corridor and live near Copperfield/Cypress area. *Note: this option is only available to longtime CF members with some rep to their name.
Been a strange season so far. We're either playing a complete cupcake (one of which was playing it's first ever football game...) or an FBS powerhouse. Really hard to get a gauge on what kind of team we have. It's almost like our season hasn't even started yet. I think we'll finally get an idea when we play Eastern Washington next week. That's really the first game of the season, as far as I'm concerned.
Thought about going tomorrow, but some family stuff came up. To be honest, it's tough to get motivated for home games vs. HBU, TSU, or IW. I'll be glad when conference play starts up.
SHSU is Division 1, Football Championship Subdivision...the one that has actual playoffs. Texas St. is Division 1, Football Bowl Subdivision...the one where their season goal is to play in the GoDaddy Bowl in beautiful Mobile, AL.
Okay, the preseason is finally over. The real season finally starts this week. sfa had an impressive win over #2 Montana State on Saturday, so I expect both Eastern Washington and Sam Houston to move up a notch in the polls so this should be a matchup between the #3 and #4 teams in the country. College Gameday, anyone? (just kidding...) We knocked them out of the playoffs last year so they will be hungry for revenge. We also have the longest home winning streak in the nation so you can bet that will be added motivation for both teams. Should be a HELLUVA game. Probably a total shootout with whoever having the ball last getting the win... Unfortunately, I will be in California all weekend and forced to follow the game on my phone.... Sure would be fun to be there.
This is the game I've been waiting for. I hope to God the temperature is in the 80s for this game like last week. Sitting in the sun in 100 degree temp from 2:00-5:00 is brutal. I need me an urban sombrero. Sounds like the secondary had a so-so game last week. EWU has the top QB in the FCS I think, so they'll need to up their game.
Lightning delay. Gay. Crowd was pumped, but a lot of people are leaving. ::EDIT:: Kickoff scheduled for 3:25
Flanders should be the early front runner for the Peyton Award. 280 yds today. Twice as many as the entire EWU team.
Ranked #2 in The Sports Network poll, and #3 in the coaches poll. I think The Sports Network Poll is what matters, but I'm not sure. Spoiler The Sports Network: 1. North Dakota State Bison (157) 2. LOL, how did we get a first place vote? Maybe someone in South Dakota? I love my Bearkats, but NDSU is better than a lot of FBS teams this year. All we can hope for is that we stay #2 and end up in a different bracket than them and someone else knocks them out before the championship game. Anyway, great win for Sam. Hopefully aTm will now be our only loss of the season when it's time to get revenge on UCA in the last game of the season. We got a nice mention on College Game Day Saturday morning. Everyone picked Sam and Herbstreet said "I'm going with Sam Houston....too much speed." BTW, sfa lost to Prairie View. LOL.....
Good win for SHSU. Hopefully we do end up on the otherside of the bracket...wouldn't want to go to the Fargo Dome, but I bet the Kats want at least one more shot at the Bison...Flanders is playing like a man possessed this year. I sat next to Flanders' dad during the game. Trey Diller came by too, to congratulate his father.
Heck, the campus changed a ton just in the years I was there (2006-2011. I took a victory lap year, hence the five years). When I got there in the fall of '06, the campus was incredible ugly, particularly the section they call the mall area. That old post office, telephone building and the Frels/Wilson apartments were an eyesore. Now that's a nice open area and the additions of the CHSS building, the mini Sam statue headed toward the library and the re-done music building have been nice. The success of the football team can only help to bring in money and interest and the school is growing like a weed (over 19,000 total students for fall 2013), so things are only going to get better. Now, if someone can just get the bluehairs that run things in Huntsville to support more business growth to keep kids in town on the weekends, we would really have something.
