ACA passed by the congress, signed by the President, and even approved by the supreme court. It's law now. Come up with and pass a better health care law. But in the mean time... make sure you don't ruin the economy.
Exactly in the 70's the conservatives started a plan of making think tanks to change the mindset of people to be more conservative. They were scared to death of hippies and Vietnam war protests the country was becoming too liberal for them. Koch brothers and others have spent billions as well to push this way of thinking to the stupid gullible people that are out there.
Has there ever in the history of the United States government been such a huge and comprehensive bill that affects every american passed on a straight party line vote? Has there ever in the history of the United States government been such a huge and comprehensive bill that affects every american passed against the will of the people? There are certainly ridiculous people out there, but folks calling for its delay aren't them.
Nonsense. He delayed PART of the law so that companies had more time to prepare not so that tea party freaks could try to kill it by shutting down the government. One is an attempt at responsible government, the other is hostage taking political theatrics. Elections have consequences, even when the black foreign Muslim guy wins. You lost, twice. And you're going to lose again.
Obama got elected on it and re-elected on it. Thats the will of the American people. The Democrats own the Senate and the White House which is the will of the American people. Fillibuster after fillibuster from Republicans, 40+ failed attempts to repeal healthcare, and now they want to shut down the government because they don't have the votes. It's hijacking our country is what it is.
Right, because think tanks didn't exist prior to the 70s. And how dare the right try to make their own! Jesus Christ, da, glynch at least makes coherent arguments.
I've asked our GOP brethren 14 times in the two threads what is so bad with the ACA and what their alternative is and had 0 responses. I have to assume all of this is still nothing more than an orchestrated political obstruction of the President and his party designed to wrest power in future elections. It's political theater with no substance and when the implications of shutting down the government become real, like soldiers not getting paid, it is going to blow up in their faces. Also again, I don't think the real conservative plotters really think this will work to win elections but use the squeaky wheels to move the entire balance of American political thought to the right. i.e. instead of discussing a sensible single payer system or negotiated Medicare drug prices the Dems have to use all their political capital just to defend essentially a GOP, Health Insurance Industry program.
It is equally valid to say the will of the people enacted the ACA since the will of the people is expressed as legislation passed by their elected representatives and signed by their elected President. With the radical propaganda campaign run against the ACA I'm not sure the people even know what is real about it and what is a lie. Polls even show a large difference between people that oppose Obamacare and people that oppose the ACA. It's a complex issue not easily understood by low information poll responders. It seems like higher information people probably don't answer their land lines and take the time to answer polls. Anecdotally, I've never been polled.
I'm sorry, but why are people - even if they don't like Republicans - even discussing in a thread with an idiotic thread title like this, started by a lunatic?
Because republicans attempting to destroy the government over ideology is the very definition of terrorists?
Let's not forget that the Republican candidate from 2012 also implemented something almost exactly the same and the core of the ACA is pretty much an idea proposed for the US by the Heritage Foundation.
Yours is one of the few sane comments in this whole thread. The only purpose of the OP is to pick a fight, just like the "Liberal Mind" thread by BMD, rather than discuss a topic with any sanity.
