So.... basically this is the thread before the thread of benching Schaub was created... yeah my sarcasm/bs meter is definitely on the fritz.

I feel sorry for the people that immediately became enraged upon reading this thread lol

HOWEVA! I once said, "The Texans better go after Peyton Manning or I'm done with this team." Not that dramatic of a claim since I've always been and always will be a Packer.

It still astonishes me that they never even made an attempt at Manning (from what I know)

Again, they couldn't afford the cap hit. I'm sure they put out just a few feelers on Manning, but even if they didn't... you wouldn't be able to pay other guys down the line.

If I was in charge of a sports team, I'd refuse to sign/draft any local heroes... Especially for premium positions.

the reason why schaub is still starting is because if kubiak benched him that would basically mean kubiak was wrong, failed, and made a mistake in bringing in schaub from atlanta.

Kubiak is tied to Schaub. he was the one that wanted him and forced a trade to get him. Not only that, they gave the man a brand new contract when he was coming off foot surgery.

If they cut ties with schaub = FAILURE by Kubiak.

Hence why Schaub is still starting. Nobody wants to admit they made a mistake.

Look at how Kubiak handled the Frank Bush situation. The front office had to give him an ultimatum: Fire Bush and hire philipps or you're gone.

By starting yates or keenum, kubiak will be admitting he made a mistake with schaub.

There's a reason why Schaub was a back up to mciheal vick.

This was a half thought out comment shortly after I woke up today. Let me retract that to being in cases when you have an established highly paid starter and intend to give the local guy little chance to play.

This is coming from the I don't want to listen to the over the top fans like Antec position, not what's best for the team. Texans obviously don't care... and my reasoning obviously didn't work with not drafting VY, so I'll just go away now.

Like some have already discussed, both Schaub and Kubiak are tied at the hip. One cannot go without the other person's departure. With that being the case, a major change is unlikely to happen during the season. It would take a major catastrophe for them to bench Schaub. Yates would be the first to give it a try and I don't think there would be much of a difference. I also don't believe it would be the right situation for case to be thrown in to. I'd rather him be named the starter in camp and get that prep time. He'll also need to prove himself more for the rest of the team to get behind him.

There is already a lot of commotion from within the organization and team members alike that they no longer believe in Schaub. The issue is whether Case is the guy to push you over the top, or if you need to draft or trade for your guy.

I agree about Schaub, Kubiak, Smith being joined at the hip.

If the Texans' fail to make the playoffs, nothing less than dumping Schithiak is acceptable.
