Whether it be rankings, or who to add or drop, who do you trust most among all the writers out there? I find myself mainly leaning towards Karabell and Berry. But I usually end up regretting listening to Berry. What about yall?
Berry is an absolute hack. http://m.espn.go.com/general/fantasy/story?storyId=9548882&src=desktop Scroll to the bottom. Hes like 4 for 30. I enjoy reading Brad Evans, Lance Z, and ProFootball Focus. PFF is a football stat geeks wet dream.
I usually use this site along with the "Edit Sources" button. Has helped me particularly in drafts: http://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/rankings/qb.php
http://www.beastdome.com/ My best kept secret. He's been very helpful to me but he has recently started to give more information only if you have his VIP services. Regardless, the community amongst Beast Dome has been very helpful and there is the occasional article that gives me great advice.
For espn, I think that Christopher Harris is better than people give him credit for and I also like Matt Hassleback over Berry. But NOBODY do I really listen to but myself. Last Week I benched TY Hilton for Austin Pettis and it got me 7 extra fantasy points. I doubt any of the "experts" would have done that. I was going to do it for Sidney Rice because i just felt that Rice was do, but I changed my mind at the last minute and it cost me a bunch of points. Also, my fantasy drafting strategy was totally opposite of the pundits, and people were calling me crazy for taking 3 qbs in the first 7 picks when I could only play 1and I didn't draft a rb until the 4th rd, but I am in second place in my fantasy league. There is only 1 rule in fantasy: play your studs. play your studs. play your studs.
What the hell? Drafting 3 QBs in the first 7 rounds is a MISTAKE and so is waiting to draft an RB til the 4th.. just because it's paying off and you're in second place doesn't mean it was smart..
Ultimately, I'm the same way. However, I do mine "expert" advice for bits of information I may not have been aware of. More heavily in the pre-draft period, but occasionally when I'm on the fence about a sit/start.
well, if my league sucks then I'm glad it does because that means the 1000.00 first place money will be mine. I don't play in $20.00 yahoo bull**** leagues. The league I play in cost you 150.00 to join. Oh, and by the way, I'm 4-0 right now.
I listen and read a lot of information but don't fully trust anyone but myself. And I wouldn't call any rankers idiots cause ranking all the players is tough. The NFL is so random.. So I'll never clown a analyst on their ranking. If a bunch of people asked me for my weekly rankings. I would do it.. But I know it'd be stressful cause I would want to be as accurate as possible. Giving lineup advice and trade advice is one thing. Rankings is another beast.
Do you still, sitting here today, believe that the qb position is deep enough for a 10 to 12 team league that you don't have to get one early in the draft? I never believed that hogwash when the pundits were dishing it out like candy and I still don't believe it toady. In reality, there are 6 players in fantasy football that matter and 3 of them are qbs. The rest of the league is just filling up your roster and trying to do the best you can. The 6 players in fantasy that matter? I'll rank them from most important to least important. 1. Jimmy Graham. 2a. Peyton Manning 2b. Drew Brees 4. AP 5. Calvin 6. Aaron Rodgers And, if you can get 2 of these player, which I did (I own Jimmy Graham and Peyton), then you are going to have a superb chance of winning. The sad reality is that 90% of the rbs drafted will average less than 15 points a game, so if you drafted 2 of them in the first 2 rounds then you are at least 10 points behind the #1 team in your league if he drafted 20 point players with those picks. Maybe more. Just on my qb alone, I will gain 150 points on most of my opponents by the end of the year.
I like the Fantasy Live show on NFL Network; comes on every day pretty much (as a nice bonus, Molly Q). And of course checking Rotoworld religiously. Can't believe that site is free.
Thefreak is one of the guys I respect on this board for fantasy football knowledge, he's played long enough to understand the game and usually has solid questions and solid advice. Moe used to be good, but he rarely tries anymore and is only concerned with his own team. I also think that kate81 (a girl no less) has more fantasy football knowledge than most of the guys on this board. Most guys on this board can't hold her bra-strap.
