Then you just haven't been paying attention, or have no idea what you're talking about. The Astros have a nice farm system at the moment. If they have anything, it's hope and a future.
As others have pointed out, it seems like comcast is withholding revenue distributions to force the Astros to the table. Crane sure does know how to tick off an entire city. What I don't get is why weren't deals deals discussed with the major carriers before the network was created? Surely they knew a ballpark range for fees, etc
You're right. I don't watch the Astros. All I see is their record every year getting worse and worse. It just pisses me off that the only thing holding back CSN from delivering the Rockets to the people is the (currently) ****ty ass Astros. Seriously. A 0.0 rating for one of their games? We all know what Houston wants and its not Astros baseball.
In general Astros baseball is more popular than the rockets. However crane has done his best to destroy the brand.
No way in hell Crane keeps the Astros in Houston past the end of Minute Maids lease. He will remember this
Put this is the thread in Astros forum: Rockets/Astros should have hired me as a consultant. I could have told them that you don't want to get in bed with NBC/Comcast. You think it's going to be a party but you'll have a knife to your throat before the end of the night.
Huh? Not to mention that there won't be another viable market besides Houston out there in 20 years. Hell, there isn't a viable potential MLB market out there now that doesn't have a team.
CSN: OK, it's time to talk carriage fees. We demand $3/subscriber, and you can't put this on a separate sports tier. So every subscriber has to pay the fee, whether they want this channel or not. Direct TV: Wow, that's a lot. ESPN is the only channel that gets a deal that sweet. Well, I guess you have us over a barrel because of the massive audiences that exclusive sports programming commands. What was the rating for last night's Astros game? CSN: 0.0 Direct TV: Yeah... I think we're going to wait this one out.
Don't expect this to help a carriage deal any time soon. There will likely be at least months of legal maneuver among the Astros, the NBC Universal parties and likely the Rockets in the bankruptcy court before things get sorted out internally as to who gets to control CSN Houston. Very much doubt that a carriage deal can be struck under these conditions.
Not trying to defend Crane or the Astros, but you do realize it was Sunday and the Texans were playing, right?
Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt and what not.
