Jesus, this again? While I agree that McHale could have picked his words better, what he said isn't wrong. Asik is a player, and his contract is still in play, if he's a professional (and he is) then he will suck it up and do what he has to do for the team as long as he's getting paid that $8.3 million a year.
Omer's a pro. He's going to play with a good attitude no matter what. As far as his agent is concerned, whether or not Omer really wanted to be traded, it made sense for the agent to say what he did. It creates a collective memory where it doesn't sound like he is rationalizing things when he tells future Omer suitors: "Everyone knows that Omer would have had gaudier stats without Howard. Plus, despite the awkwardness of the situation, he played with a great attitude. Everyone in Houston has nothing but good things to say about him..."
Asiks butter fingers ended Linsanity. Its all about LIN FTW  Getting Dwight improves us at Center and PG its like we signed two new players possibly

Mchale is a jackass. I understand players shouldn't be babied but no need to take the complete opposite approach and be a jerk. Don't comment publicly and keep it in house. Last season and this summer got him gassed up, still think this guy doesn't know how to coach.
Agree completely. No reason to say it that way. He says things like this and lives to the image I've always had of him since he was a player.
Nothing mchale said was even remotely close to being inappropriate, nor could they be construed as such. Morey was joking about the same thing earlier this summer, ie 'dwight's the gm, I'm just the assistant gm.' There have been a huge number of roster changes over the past 3 seasons, and this lack of stability (player and coach perspective), or roster upgrades in pursuit of a championship (fan, front office and owner perspective) is bound to ruffle some feathers. Morey and Mchale have made a couple of jokes in passing to defuse the tension. That's all there is to it.
Howard chose to play for the Rockets. Yes, Kevin is a contributing piece, but we all know McHale is no deal sealer here. But again, let Kevin give that type of direct answer to a media person about Dwight. And let's see how Dwight reacts of all people.
I personally see nothing wrong with what he said. Asik is NOT a GM - FACT Asik signed a contract - FACT Asik has a job he needs to do - FACT There is nothing to see here, just overly sensitive people getting their undies twisted.
True, but this isn't new. After every loss all coaches should be fired and all players shot. Every new player/coach deemed to have potential is a hero, and a shiny new toy. After each loss, every tenured player/coach is washed-up and not worthy of Houston. Whether it's the GARM or the Texans forum, it's the same.
It's one of the saddest aspects of being a sports fan. I'm not even sure if I can or want to call myself a 'fan-atic' at this point. I love sports, but there is a line of civility that shouldn't be crossed, and it's crossed with regularity these days. I've pretty much tuned out baseball. I enjoy attending a few games each season, but I don't follow mlb closely anymore. The beating of brian stow and the recent stabbing death of a dodgers fan at the hands of giants fans were both completely senseless and tragic, and simply underscored the fact that I can't ever identify with mlb "fandom." Most sports fans can enjoy the game and can understand the difference between right and wrong, but the rants on forums can be truly disheartening.
So am I a drama queen because I see it differently than you do? I'm not an NBA coach, but I run a law firm. I have people who show up to do a job..sometimes they do it well..sometimes they don't. I don't think being arrogant about it helps the situation ever. But moreover..even if it doesn't matter..is it ok with you that I just don't like the tone of the response? Or does that make me a drama queen? If that makes me a drama queen, then I'm guilty. I don't like the tone. I absolutely thought he was a jackass when he was a player, and when he opens his mouth as a coach he generally confirms that. That doesn't mean he's not a good coach or a good player..he was a great player, actually. So was John Stockton, but I'm hoping you won't think I'm a drama queen when I say "eff you, Stockton."
McHale is Popovich Jr. He gives the media purposely offensive or obtuse answers to stupid questions. I love it.
