Bob Buzzanco thinks Obama has made good ol' Ronald Reagan look like a savior in comparison to our current president.
No he believes it. He also thought the guy who saved 100 people from the crazies shooting people with machine guns didn't need a tiny pistol. Some people are just different.
lol. As if that's crazy. Escorting people out of danger, demonstrating calm in the midst of chaos, and inspiring people to follow you when they are looking for help, doesn't require a handgun for many people. In fact, I believe there are very few who have the ability and training to do that at all, and almost none of those that can gain those qualities by having a gun, that don't already have them without a gun. What was crazy is that Russia did exactly what the US wanted Russia to do and somehow that's bad for Obama.
Apparently, Hitler or Chamberlain (not sure which one Obama is today) spoke with the Iranian leader today, first time that's happened in decades. Thanks, Obama.
The new Iranian leader has Obama and Kerry groveling to get Iran to the bargaining table. Obama, in trying to redeem his failed foreign policies, is providing a limbo bar low for political weakness. All the Iranians really want is more time to develop nuclear weapons, but IMO Obama likely will remove sanctions in an effort to get them to the negotiating table so they can get what they wanted in the first place.
Careful. Asking this type of question, might lead you to become less content with the mainstream consensus.
I thought you were convinced that Obama was a warmonger? How does this reality fit with your unfounded beliefs?
Nice strawman. Obama is mainly about going along to get along. He is pretty conventional wrt to starting or maintaining our generally militaristic foreign policy, though a bit more moderate than the moronic Dubya, which is an extraordinarily low threshold. Starting a war with Syria was not clearly useful as it would help radical Al Qaeda type interests and Syria is not an oil producing country. In addition going against a majority of US opinion was a liability for Obama. Obama backing off is not because he is some sort of big peace maker. As shown with Libya, his attempt to stay in Iraq (we were practically kicked out by the Iraqis though Obama plays it as a sort of desire to end the war) and now Afghanistan where we keep trying to maintain our presence against public opinion, Obama is quite capable of supporting war when he sees it as useful Now your question was: I would say the goal of US foreign policy toward Iran was the same as wrt to Iraq -- regime change and a desire to control their oil and help Israel dominate. It is not to talk to Iran or make the world safer.
If McCain or Romney had been elected President, we'd already be occupying Syria and probably at war with Iran. That's reason enough to be glad he's President. Remember, at all times, that neocons automatically label any political leader who chooses non intervention over war as weak. Sometimes war is inevitable, but the Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq1, Iraq2, and Afghanistan have all been avoidable. The GOP horribly miscalculates when they think they can scare the American people into voting for another war monger.
Right. Grovelling. It's the Iranians who came to us to restart negotiations, but no, WE'RE the one grovelling.....somehow. And of course, the President who tightened sanctions on Iran is just itching to get rid of said sanctions. I have no idea how conservatives still think Obama is some Carter on foreign policy, it's willfull disbelief at this point.
Damn.... and he didn't even start an unnecessary war that caused 100,000+ deaths and sectarian violence. What level of foreign policy would you call that???!?!
