I was forced to read your profile when I saw this post, thinking, This guy's really young or I'm really old. Or both. Reading your "pinche a la verga" comments on your profile, you're clearly not one of us anal-retentive grew-up-in-the-70's/80's white guys. So your ear and palate might be different. I could sit down to a peanut butter sandwich while listening to, say, Coldplay, and either one--the food, the band--might make you puke. Me, I can barely listen to most pop songs these days. There's some talent out there, but a lot of anthemic white rah-rah crap mixed in with radio-safe rap and no-talent (but good-butt in the video, that's-why-it's-popular) Rihanna stuff.
1-877-kars for kids I am so freaking sick of hearing that crap every single day ten times a day MEMO TO 790 - I TURN THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY DOWN ON YOUR STATION WHEN THAT STUPID CRAP PLAYS! Second the 'Ring My Bell' song.. that is like fingernaisl on a blackboard Also, anything by the red hot chili peppers and sorry carlos, you are dead wrong. Hotel California is one of the greatest of all time, especially the unplugged version.
Anything off of Lady Gaga's most recent album. I did like "Pokerface" and "Just Dance", but that was a long time a go.
That song "Royals" by Lorde now, touches a nerve for some reason. Its trying to make a "statement" about pretentiousness. Something for hipsters against "bling" to dig. But then its supported for underlying superficial reasons (Attractive young girl, from overseas so it gets "cred") And its basically a sing-along jingle where listeners miss the message. At least Fiona Apple was sincere about the art. I was thinking that of Live recently. I was a fan. Then I thought that really took themselves a bit too serious. And that "Lightning Crashes" song just doesnt hold its meaning now, bunch of moving buildup about nothing. Then grating vocals and song lyrics (Really a lot of 90s can be like that but I dont want to get too sacrilege on it all)
Im not exposed to much overplay of songs. So I havent hated songs in a while. But yeah Rihanna touched a nerve too. Some bad mix-in of "caribbean" theme (Like the "UM-brell-A pronunciation) Just sounded dumb. I didnt even think she was that hot, her sex appeal supposed to be her appeal, but she grew on me admittedly. And on quasi-carribbean theme, the "reggaeton" and PITBULL. Yeah Pitbull is so far into terrible it doesnt get in radar. So easily disposable. I saw his music as some of the highest viewed on youtube ever, and its just sad. All its is, is letting some latino dudes borrow some hip hop/urban cred to front as artists as SHAMELESS CROSSOVER EXPLOITATION to get more access to some hot ass shaking latinas. Period. (Good thing we love ass shaking latinas. Its why we tolerate it)
I like that song. It's minimalist unlike that **** clarity song with whiny high pitched girl singing unoriginal lyrics and lots of loud Techno dj noise.
This is weird. I probably like less than 10% of pop music but many of the songs/artists (not the ones in the OP) seem to fall into that group. In general, I prefer the rock/funk/R&B influenced pop vs. the EDM/country influenced pop. It's not that I don't like EDM or country, it's just that the pop versions are usually garbage. I will say I'm on board with the general disdain for Pitbull's hybrid rap/EDM crap.
Whatever song is in the movie "Rush" and featured in the commercials. "I can't stop stop stop stop stop stop" "I can't stop stop stop stop stop stop" "I can't stop stop stop stop stop stop" OVER AND OVER AND OVER
