Fox for the headlines, then an incongruous collection of sites for the read.

It's actually one of the best news channels out there. It's not about sensationalism or propaganda from one side or the other. It really just focuses on the news.

If you haven't seen it, it's much more like BBC news or Lehrer news hour than anything else.

It's pretty cool to see news where the emphasis isn't on them breaking the next big scandal for one political party or the other. They'll focus on the material of the scandal, but not trying to become the news themselves by breaking something or pretending that something is big enough so it looks like they uncovered the next big story.

translation: they are more interested in shaping the news than reporting it

Instead of opinion, they call it "analysis", without bias of course.

If you are talking about other news stations like FOX or MSNBC or CNN then yes they are more interested in shaping the news than reporting it.

It's what I like about Al Jazeera. They pretty much just report.

Christian Science Monitor is my favorite for basic reporting.

I like the Wall Street Journal as well, except for some of their opinion pieces.

I don't take in any TV news now whatsoever. It all seems pretty useless. :(

Used to be the Daily Show + idiots rambling on Facebook + some links posted here that spurred heavy discussion + whatever else I couldn't help but hear on the major news channels.

But nowadays, I do a much better job of avoiding the day-to-day happenings of politics. At work someone always has either Fox News or MSNBC on so sometimes I hear this and that, but I don't really pay attention to it. I'm a happier, and probably nicer, person when I don't actively follow politics. 4-5 years ago my Facebook feed was all politics all the time, and I am embarrassed now about that.

This is me pretty much, except substitute the Asahi Shimbun for Al Jazeera.

    to you

The perception of bias is always dependent on the bias of the observer, that's why real journalism uses an editorial review board and prints more than one side of an issue on the opinions page.
