WTF - Steve Carrell... not the way I thought he'd ever portray anything at all. I can't shake the comedian roles from him. I hope he is good in this.

supposed to be a very dark movie based on reading the events.

This is about the Dupont heir that went nuts. Bennett Miller (Moneyball, Capote) did this.

This actually looks captivating. It'll be interesting to see Carrell step out of his normal roles.

Don't think Channing Tatum is that good of an actor, but maybe he'll surprise me in this one.

I can't imagine Carrell taking on anything other than a comedy role. He just looked so out of place in that trailer...

That slap was cringe-level bad, but the rest looked pretty good.

    Middile of the movie...
Did John Du Pont rape Mark? In the scene where John wakes Mark up in the middle of the night. The two then were making grunt noises on the mat.

I was pretty disappointed with this one. Great acting, but the story was simply boring, IMO, with a payoff that wasn't what I expected.

In a post on Facebook (since deleted), Schultz wrote, "The personalities and relationships between the characters in the film are primarily fiction and somewhat insulting. Leaving the audience with a feeling that somehow there could have been a sexual relationship between duPont and I is a sickening and insulting lie."

He continued, "I told Bennett Miller to cut that scene out and he said it was to give the audience the feeling that duPont was encroaching on your privacy and personal space. I wasn't explicit so I didn't have a problem with it. Then after reading 3 or 4 reviews interpreting it sexually, and jeopardizing my legacy, they need to have a press conference to clear the air, or I will."

Not a boring story, just poorly executed and too Mark Schultz-centric (not surprising, since it's based on his book). In the hands of a director with a better sense of pacing and with a better script, it could have been awesome. As it exists now, it's just "meh". Carrell was great, Tatum and Ruffalo were good, though.

Exactly how I felt. I fell asleep through the 20th-60th minute. Story was just boring and didn't make you care about any of the characters. Plus the directing was awful. Too many silent panned out shots that take too long where the only thing happens is someone opens a door.

    Awful movie.

I thought it was great and the performances were even better. I had no idea about the backstory going into it which made the overall story more interesting to me.

Definitely think Steve Carrell has a legit shot at winning for best actor.

Well said. This is how I probably should have worded it. The pacing was the main problem with the film.

I've always thought Steve could play roles beyond the comedic specter.

    Excited for this one.
