Says the man who accuses proponents of the legislation under discussion of wanting to starve "millions of children" to death.

You of all people don't get to lecture me about slander.

Do you really wonder why I doubt your sincerity? At least I am honest about what an a$$hole I am and don't pretend to take the high road when I'm really slugging through the gutter... I will admit it when I am just flinging my poo at you. :p

I find it interesting how these discussions always get derailed at the point at which no one can come up with a decent answer to an obvious question. I asked you to explain why you think it's a good idea to give people abusing drugs and people who refuse to find or look for work for years on end SNAP benefits. And when the crickets answer, the discussion turns into what an a$$hole treeman is. Whatever, no skin off my back, but don't think you're fooling anyone with the deflection attempt. It's clear as crystal and as predictable as Nancy Pelosi mangling a Declaration of Independence quote.

I didn't say someone wanted to starve millions of children. I correctly commented that it had already been noted that 85% of food stamps recipients are children, elderly, or disabled.

I don't think people using drugs using SNAP is really that big of a problem, certainly not enough of one to cut services to the 85% which are children, elderly, or disabled.

You may admit to being an *******, but you seem to be angry about it whenever anyone else repeats it or comments on it. If you are going to own to being something, you shouldn't act wounded when other people say you're acting like what you admitted being.

I don't hide from slinging my fair of share of poo. That's what happens on these boards, but I don't generalize whole groups of people as nazis, and traitors because they believe differently than I do.

Calling people dim, idiots, traitors, nazis, stupid, etc. isn't a highlight in the discussion of anything, and it only shows that the person who does that is way too personally involved in a message board.

I hardly ever talk politics with people in real life. I have other things to do. But I have a great interest in it, so I follow it, and this is my outlet to discuss it. But I don't care if people disagree with me. I like it when sincere people do it, because it fosters real discussion.

Every day, all across America, Republicans die of old age and Democrats are born. The future is Socialist. ;)

How come you are robbing banks? And why do you still with your toes? And what do you have against hip hop music? And why do you want to make us all eat crocodile?

Yes....when you ask a stupid question, you hear crickets. Imagine that!

Why does we think it's a good idea to give people abusing drugs benefits? We don't. You are asking a stupid question and you know it. And then when people refuse to answer it, you use that as an endorsement.

Hey, treeman, why can't you use your brain more often?

    Answer: silence.

Ah - that must mean he doesn't have one to use.

Nonsense - unless you're saying you preemptively call people Nazis and traitors because someone might call you racist? That thread was a 100% civil discussion until you piped in with your Nazi comment, so please do not pretend that you're willing to have a civil discussion if others are. That thread was the definition of a great, civil discussion.

Why do we have to use a food stamp program? Why is the government unable to coordinate a meal program through churches and charities to stop fraud and to promote efficiency?

It is very inefficient to organize charities. Frankly nobody is good at organizing charities. Private charities have a much higher overhead than the food stamp program and are notorious for having a high percentage of donations going to overhead. Haven't you heard? History has shown that charity is unreliable and volunteers don't take things as seriously as full-time workers. Why is that so hard to understand? Haven't you ever worked or volunteered? For instance how are charities going to be any more efficient at sniffing out fraudulent claims e.g. folks who really aren't disabled or who really haven't put in numerous job applications etc.

Try to get away from simple conservative assumptions you evidence like government always bad charities always good.

You have some serious emotional problems, dude. I hope you are getting treatment for that. If not, I suggest that you look into it, with all due respect. I understand that you went through a lot in Iraq, but that doesn't give you a pass for treating people like crap here. You accused me of wanting you dead. That was an incredible thing to say to anyone and it pissed me off. If you gave me an apology somewhere, I didn't see it. I almost didn't see your comment to me here, because it wasn't in a post directed at me. And seriously, do you really believe that I saved those posts from 8 years ago? I did a simple search. Posts by Deckard with treeman in them. They popped up. So as you can see, I was concerned about you, not that you give a tinker's continental damn, of course, which is obvious from your lack of response.

Get a grip on yourself, treeman. I am not your enemy. Most of us here, believe it or not, are here to entertain ourselves discussing the issues of the day, and sometimes the issues of the past. And most of us want to do it in somewhat of a civil fashion. I'm certainly no angel, and don't expect to be treated as such, but I do expect at least a little bit of respect. Enough that when someone makes an incredibly insulting remark to me that is clearly proven to be 100% wrong, they apologize. I'm still waiting for one.

This isn't France dude. In America, paying people to skull bash rioters creates jobs and stimulates the economy. Feeding the poor just creates dependency.

Says the guy who saves quotes from a decade ago because he got his feelings hurt? Oh, you didn't save them, you just spent craploads of time searching for them...

See, I don't save quotes because I don't really care enough, but you said something along the lines of "I am starting to wish you'd never come back", or something. They way you said it sounded like that. And I apologized if that was not your meaning.

And here you are still butthurt about it. Pick your dress up off the floor and move on.

I am fine. Really. I do enjoy tweaking you guys, though, which is why I bother engaging when you guys can't answer debate points and turn to personal attacks.

And you are still getting no apology for anything I've said here. You weren't even part of the conversation until you decided to swoop in from your lofty abode and play ref. So, no candy for you.
