Spark;8254966]Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, or Al Horford.. Otherwise, no deal. We save that cap space for next off-season when Asik and Lin's contracts will be expiring 1-year deals which will be valuable trade assets or easy to dump at the least to chase FA's in 2014 or 2015.[/QUOTE]

why do people want Rondo? he would be a terrible fit next to Harden. Harden is ball dominant and a much better player than Rondo, so Rondo would be playing off-ball a decent amount of the time, which is awful. he can't shoot at all, and defenses would just sag off of him, putting even more pressure on Harden. thats not even mentioning the fact that he can't shoot free throws.

    ryan anderson ROCKETS $8mill

    omer asik PELICANS $8mill

no reason to go for LMA when his contract is worth both of these players $16m, no reason to go into luxury tax, Ryan anderson is our answer at PF. He can aslo shoot the 3 for more floor spacing vs LMA. I think its only a matter of time before this trade happens, it was rumored when we first got howard I think morey is just waiting until mchale says yeah asik and howard together wont work and he pulls this trade off before the start of the season. At that point we have the best strating lineup in the league and still have several PFs who can still be on the trade block to get other players.

I'd rather have LMA, a genuine star. On the other hand, the Rockets would be way over the cap with Harden, Howard, Aldridge, and a resigned Parsons, correct? So perhaps Harden, Howard, Parsons, and Anderson is better than Harden, Howard, and LMA. The thing is, though, it's a stars' game, and the Rockets would be better matched against Miami's big three if they had their own big three.

Because he is a superstar on a less-than-max contract that ends in 14/15 so he gives us the ability to:

    1. See if he can be a fit with H&H. The worst thing about Harden's game is his turnover ratio. The great thing about Rondo's game is he's a great playmaker, is flat nails in pick-and-roll and he's an all-world defensive player. Rondo with Dwight/Parsons/Beverley...moving Harden to the 3...would be a top 4 defensive team in the NBA.

    2. Flip him back out in a trade if another superstar goes on the trade market.

    3. Let his contract expire and be players in 2015 free agency if we see that Love (or Aldridge) will be there.

    4. Execute a sign-and-trade for another superstar using Rondo as primary trade bait in 2014 free agency if another superstar wanted to walk.

    5. Execute a multi-team deal that sends Rondo to a 3rd team (like Utah, Detroit, Milwaukee, etc.) for a superstar here.

    6. In my proposed trade, sending out Asik/Lin/TJones/2 minimum salary contracts for Rondo, Khump, Bogans....we would be left with the ability to keep Bogans on the books non-guaranteed for a possible deal in 2014 or we could walk away from KHump and Bogans after this upcoming season and have around aroung $5.5 million to $8 million to sign another player outright provided the cap was around $62.5 million.

However with contracts like KHump, Bogans, and DMo along with a guy like Beverley and draft picks...we would have the ability to execute a huge sign-and-trade for a superstar walking away from their team in 2014...while retaining Rondo alongside H&H. Beverley becomes expendable with Rondo's defense and playmaking. IF perchance Lebron wants to walk from Miami in 2014..then Rondo back to Miami is about as good as they are going to get and Riley would execute that sign-and-trade to avoid Lebron walking for no compensation. Do I believe that is going to happen??? Nope. But it is there if we have Rondo.

So, acquiring Rondo along with the non-guaranteed salary of Bogans and the expiring contract of KHump is all about positioning ourselves to have options both this next off-season and in 2015. This is why I think Morey should acquire Rondo if he can get Rondo and those other guys for Asik/Lin/TJones/other minimum salaries/first round picks.

thanks for the reply, yes they would be over the cap with LMA, anderson averaged 8 rebounds in orlando with howard they play well together and both have playoff experience together. Anderson is a great player that will not demand the ball as much as LMA also which will allow harden & howard to still feel like stars here and do their thing and lin and parsons to still feel comfortable on offense.

Not high on Anderson anymore. Great fit but not the best. Ilyasova is a much better fit, love being the best. Love while not yet, is getting closer to being available. This is Morey dream target. Look for him to offer asik/parsons/picks for love.

In the meantime i see Morey targeting a player like afflalo or Granger etc... Another asset that helps us currently.

Andersons girlfriend recently committed suicide so I doubt he will perform well anytime soon

Love the enthusiasm (I'd like Rondo here as well) but if it's a straight-up swap, I don't know if Boston, sold-out home games notwithstanding, would be up for paying Asik and Lin $30,000,000 in 2014-15.

Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Terrence Jones
    to the Brooklyn Nets

    Brook Lopez, D-Mo
    to the Portland Trailblazers

LaMarcus Aldridge, Meyers Leonard, Shaun Livingston (if he passes physical)
    to the Houston Rockets

The Nets are the one team that could afford Lin and Asik's combined balloon payments in 2014-15. And they could use some quality depth. And they can afford to lose an All Star because the team already looks like a walking All Star game (even if two of those players won't be All Stars this year). And Brooklyn's population is about 6% Chinese, 10% Asian; Lin would be an asset for depth and ticket sales. (I don't consider Jason Terry a point guard.)

For Portland, they can field Brook Lopez, an All Star center (COUGH who can't rebound COUGH) and D-mo would be a good replacement for Leonard (they get a C and PF, we get a PF and C). The only way any variation of this trade would happen is if behind the scenes Aldridge is actually making noise that he wants to leave.

Houston gets their 3rd All Star, a significant upgrade over a bunch of backups. Aldridge can slide to center, too. Meyers can actually be that backup C. Rockets players wanted Livingston to stick around before we cut him.

The difference in what they will be paying with KHump, Bogans, and Rondo is less than $8 million over the next 2 years.

I laugh all at all the trade proposals that are trying to dump Lin. Yes, the dude is overpaid but he is actually a good fit for this Rockets...for both Harden and Howard. Not to mention, he also a good team chemistry guy.
