Kareem Jackson is still as pathetic as his first year

Jackson isn't Revis or Sherman but he is still one of our best defensive backs if not the best (waiting on Ed Reed to play like Ed Reed of old). Joseph made some plays as well, the fact is the secondary can't lock guys down all game.

All that being said, I would rather see Brandon Harris of AJ Bouye out there then Brice McCain, his best play all season was him catching the punt on special teams. As the nickel corner he consistently gets either burnt or out muscled, why we paid him even the small amount we did confuses me.

Seriously, way too many plays you see him just in the area with the receiver dropping the balls barely touched (if at all) or him getting beat. I can't believe both Harris and Bouye are so bad in practice that this level of performance/effort is beating them out onto the field.

Can someone from the sideline be made responsible to yell at Kareem when the ball is coming his way so he can turn around?

His inability to make a play on the ball on long passes is inexcusable.

There is a really good chance of this happening...the film is out there...people are just picking on Mccain...

I ll give Kareem a pass on the first PI which i thought was totally bogus, the second one was more blatant...regardless...they shouldve never been allowed to set up shop on that drive. Our game plan shouldve been simple, make Flacco beat us. Instead our boys in red and blue decide to play on of the worst games collectively both on offense and defense...

People calling for Harris... are you simply just basing this on McCain getting picked on/being ineffective?

Harris has shown NOTHING in his opportunities... including practice time, and in-game reps. If he was capable of doing the job, he'd be out there. He's only still on the roster as a former 2nd round pick and they need special teams bodies/depth in case of injury.

As far as Jackson, goes, he may never possess the natural CB instincts to have solid technique/int skills. He's no longer getting burned. Also would be nice if we had a dangerous enough pass-rush to not allow the opportunity for multiple deep passes that are being thrown against the Texans every single week now.

I still remember Garrett Gilbert threw all over Kareem in the national title.

They've chosen to do that 3 games in a row now. I'm starting to become confused about how good anyone really is individually.

Have you not seen Brice McCain? Harris showed signs of improvement at the end of last season and in preseason enough to make plays. Can't say McCain has done much in the 3 games this regular season at the spot to justify him getting snaps.

It doesn't even have to be Harris or Bouye I'd rather see one of our safeties cover potential receivers then McCain. You know it is bad when Keo with his lack of physical talents has shown more on the field, McCain is a weakness that could potentially drag the entire defense down.

Texans defense is #2 in passing yards allowed.

    Rivers: 14/29 195 yards
    Locker: 17/30 148 yards
    Flacco: 16/24 171 yards

    AVG: 56%; 171 yards

    I ain't worried.

Harris looked bad last year, and didn't do anything to separate himself in pre-season.

McCain is certainly getting picked on... just like Harris was last year in his chances where he largely failed.

Neither is likely to be a #1 or #2 caliber CB in this league. Chances are they'd look to the FA side to replace one of them if needed.

Good find...numbers never lie....the problem is this slow conservative Offense...i hate schaub but i do not like the way kubiak treats him..he treats him like a high school qb...schaub never gets to change plays...i've seen him do a play action on a all out blitz before. WTF change the play if their showing a blitz..

our defense has been stellar...our offense has been piss poor...slow starts been really hurting the defense as well...no exotic blitz packages that I have seen. Wade really gets more creative, if the Texans have leads..

I think our run defense other than the first game has been really stellar. Our overall team defense ranking is #2 behind the Seahawks..

It's not the total yards given up that counts. Its WHEN the yardage happens that matters. And our secondary always give up huge yardage at times when we can least afford it.

That's when you need that pass rush to wake up. In huge situations, as you stated...WHERE IS IT?

but why is it always a "bad time"????? because the offense isnt doing anything and it puts extra demand on the defense to be perfect.. flacco wasnt even moving the ball without those bs PI calls.. ravens had 65 total yards at halftime.. the tennesee game the d went 5 straight posession without giving up a 1st down, even recorded a saftey.. the offense gave the ball right back each time..

This is it in a nutshell. This is the key issue in my view.

And I don't know if they actually lack it...or if it's just that they refuse to take shots down the field.

The days of winning the time of possession battle are done. No one cares. Points are more important than eating clock. I don't care if you eat clock, but can't find the end zone. I don't care that you ate clock to get 3, and it took your opponent much less time to get 7.

In a league designed to protect QB's and WR's, we have a game plan that seems like it's out of date...out of touch with the way the game is played and officiated today.
