Yep. I think the ricin is for either that pesky, overbearing car wash boss or that group of a-holes who made fun or Walt Jr's disability in that clothing store. Calling it right now, the final episode opens with Walt thumbing through the white pages with a blue highlighter in hand.
I don't think Walt will allow himself to be killed or captured. If he gets cornered by the cops, I think he takes the ricin. He's got to die or get caught to get his wife off the hook.
You are really upset over this. I can't really understand why. I thought it was a great set-up episode. Very much looking forward to the finale next week.
I didn't predict they'd resurface ... so what? We're talking about whether its silly, not whether it was predictable (it wasn't, just like "99%" of the show).
Five years ago in our time, like a year or year and a half ago in Breaking Bad time since we last saw Gretchen. We may have not seen them in a while on screen, but I'm sure they are still pretty fresh in Walt's memory since they were a major reason for everything he has done.

I dunno, I like the idea that Gray Matter will play a role at the end. It would be a good way to bookend the series.
Episode 6, "Buyout". He'd just had his 51st birthday which makes that scene take place a little less than a year from where we are now in the story.
And you've been watching since Season 1 and you don't get it? Wow. First, the fact that it hasn't been mentioned a great deal in the last few seasons- wait, there's only 5, so let's see when Grey Matter has come up: 1. Season 1 2. Season 2 3. Season 5- obviously, him telling Jessie about Grey Matter means that he still thinks about it. Did you not catch the part, in this very season, when he said that he checks on them every week? You don't think he still thinks about them? The show has only covered a 2-year chronology- since the encounter with Gretchen at the restaurant, even less than 2 years- and you think it's some type of cheap ploy????? And then, let's think about how many stories have been about those seeking revenge for or being affected by things that happened a long time ago: 1. The Scarlet Letter 2. Once Upon a Time in the West 3. Citizen Kane 4. Insert 100s of others.... Plus, you don't seem to understand that Walt, at this point, is basically....umm. CRAZY!!! This is just the type of thing that could set him off...if I were to guess, I'd say that he's planning to take out Lydia, Jack's gang, and the Schwartzes. A la the end of The Godfather, except he's all of them.
I don't understand how cardpire can't understand that gray matter was his motivation for everything. I didn't see it coming back into play but it totally makes sense. It just reinvigorated right now to do something.
Of course it is. It's perfect. If for nothing else than to prove that Walter White ultimately FAILED and was WRONG. People rooting for him to actually kill the Schwartz just b/c they discredited him- well, that's ******** crazy. Walt brought this all on himself. I feel sorry for him getting in over his head, and I'll admire whatever creative means he uses to get his revenge, but it'll also be best if he dies. He's Macbeth, John McCabe, Captain Ahab, and every other character who let their pride and ego be their downfall.
Not sure what motivation Walt has to take out Lydia at the moment. He was really gung ho on getting together a crew to take on Jack's gang, but that's because they killed Hank and took his money. Lydia really doesn't have anything to do with that. But Lydia had the meeting with Todd in this episode where she strongly suggested she wanted Sylar disposed of. It reminds me of when she met with Mike and wanted him to take care of his guys. Even though Mike assured her they wouldn't be a problem, she wasn't comfortable with that and found somebody else to start taking them out anyway. It's quite possible, if not likely, that she'll try to find somebody else to take out Sklar (maybe even succeeding) which is what ultimately puts her on Walt's **** list.
Agreed. I really like the idea of the ricin being for the Schwartz's, but they've had Lydia refer to the Stevia multiple times. There's Chechov's Gun again. Why would they have her bring it up AGAIN in this episode unless they were going to use it as a method for delivering the ricin?
this was the best episode of the series imo, perfect from start to finish Robert Forester is such a pro, totally made the episode
The writers in Breaking Bad said that they have talked about The Godfather more than any other film as a source of inspiration for the show- in terms of character development, themes, etc. Even more so than Scarface. So, I would guess that, in a show famous for its montages, it may end in a nod to the most famous montage of all. Did you want an actual synopsis of The Godfather? Because that might take me a bit longer.
