Yeah, I'm to the point where I wouldn't waste Swoopes this pathetic season. Let it play out however awful it turns out and hopefully things will change next season.
He's going to have to learn and get experience sometime. Why not go through his growing pains during a season with no pressure? We need to figure out how to get good soon rather than worrying if we'll lose him in 2017.
We won't know until he actually plays. He probably has regressed somewhat since some of his hype from his junior year in HS, but I still think he can be an upgrade over Ash and McCoy (yeah, that's not saying a lot, but I'll take it).
Hopefully we'll lose again in a blowout just to see what excuses the delusional Mack Brown will give. -_-
No reason to burn his redshirt on a dud year, especially when it looks like we'll clean house with the current coaches. He should start fresh with new coaches. The only experience he'll likely gain from this year is how to throw a bubble screen 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage and how to miss tackles.
I think this approach is part of the whole problem with the program. We're 1-2 so let's just quit and start looking towards next year. It's reflective of the softness of the whole team and coaching staff. Part of winning is learning to win. He needs to learn the speed of the game and the team needs to see everyone doing everything possible to win instead of always just playing for next year.
To clarify - I'm not saying to play him for the sake of playing him. I'm saying burn his redshirt if we think he can be helpful - don't just save him for the sake of 2017. If Ash is healthy, it's much less of an issue. But if Case is the QB, he should be seriously looked at.

I don't care about that extra year either. But if he plays this year he will struggle, and like VY i expect him to struggle for some of his RS freshman year also. Swoopes played at a very low level in High School. You're telling me if fans have to watch a QB suck for a year and a half they will be OK with it, because I don't think they will be. Just look at what Ash has had to go through because he had to start as a true freshman. Give him a full year to get used to everything and then hit the ground running when the program has momentum.
Malcolm Brown, Jordan Hicks, Quandre Diggs, Carrington Byndom, Mike Davis, Malcolm Brown 2, Chris Whaley, Jaxon Shipley, Ash are all likely to get drafted. Talent is not the problem.
Not so bad so far. Offense needs to score but the defense looks really good so far. Helps that KSU is so one-dimensional depending on what qb they put in. edit: what a fantastic run by Gray
This is the Johnathan Gray that we've been waiting for. He's finally been released into space and is showing his craftiness, speed, vision, and elusiveness.
