Lin played off-guard at Harvard. I watched him live in one game get double and triple teamed, sometimes without the ball. He hardly scored but did when it counted down the stretch and actually did NOT handle the ball that much. He would catch the ball in different positions, often high post, and made the most incredible passes I had seen live. What impressed me most about Lin was his passing, defense, court awareness, and lightning quick and strong hands and feet. Of all the players I had seen live, he reminded me the most of a young Jason Kidd, whom I saw live in his very first college practice.

So what? He works for the Rockets, and he coached Lin. What do you expect him to say?

"He's a really hard worker, and I'm sure he and Dwight are going to have a good season working together."

Are you a fellow Cal alum? (Go Bears!) Lin's first step going right and his ability to accelerate remind me actually of Kevin Johnson from my years at Berkeley. KJ was also a bit of a combo guard in college. I remember that there was concern going into the draft that he was a "shooting guard in a point guard's body."

But just to be clear: Lin is not nearly as quick overall as KJ, who is one of the quickest players listed at six feet or above to have ever played in the NBA.

4th option in the team. why people has so much expectation?

    1)Howard
    2)Harden
    3)Parson
    4)Lin

Unless he shows otherwise, Parsons isn't really an option unless he can create with the ball more. He is a slasher and 3-point shooter mostly with some versatile bits around that. I would switch Lin and Parsons on that list.

That's not really fair, Parsons is the 2nd leading scorer and third leader in assists last season. Lin is better at creating his own shot, but Parsons is better at making shots.

Dwight would probably have a high number of his FGs assisted as well, but that doesn't mean he isn't an option.

Discussion about who's the 3rd option is just meaningless

I'm thinking of an option like if you gave a player the ball and let him go to work, who would be able to create a shot for themselves or someone else. Parsons would be 4th on that list. It's not a who's more productive list.

In the end it doesn't matter, since it will probably be options 1a and 1b in Howard and Harden and then just everyone else. Probably 2a and 2b for Lin and Parsons.

I see "options" as more of who you want taking the shot, a ranking so to speak, of who is taking the most shots. So I would probably have Harden taking the most shots, then Howard, then Parsons then Lin.

But if that is how you define options I don't disagree that Lin is better at shot creation than Parsons.

guys, really we have 3 options:
    1. Harden
    2. Howard
    3. The rest of the team.

I don't think ranking Parsons and Lin as 3rd or 4th option is that meaningful.

very true. both parsons and lin can drop 20+ on any of their matchups on any given night, when you combine that with the 50 points both dwight and harden will put up every night...we will be unbeetabol.

I'm a little more concerned with who will do the most damage from the bench. I have garcia averaging 10 a game this season.

Lin is more valuable than 8 mil right now since his knee has been healed and he's got 1 yr starter experience in Houston. His a lot marketable than people think.

Lin is a solid PG and has the potential to be a very good one. Playing as a starter is different from playing as a bench player. Teams spend their time preparing for starters not bench players.

I'd like Lin to handle the ball more than Harden. I don't want Harden becoming a ball dominating Kobe.
