Agree. It gets even more annoying when one side has to trash the other guy. Especially when these two are obviously friends off the court and always joke about in the locker room.

How can you make such a definitive statement with nothing to back it up? Some of the best defensive PG's in the league Paul, Rondo, WB, Rose, Holiday, Conely are starters who do it ALL day, ALL season while still exerting themselves heavily on offense. He's even younger than these guys. He's 185lbs and only 25 years old. You might be underestimating him too much.

You misunderstand me, I'm not saying Lin is a bad player at all, it's hard to find a pg who brings what he does at the table who isn't being paid superstar money. At the same time though you can't ignore what Bev brings on a nightly basis at such a cheap price. Normally you can't compare contracts but Bev and Lin's contract run the same length so it makes sense to compare them for the team.

With Bev, Brooks and maybe Canaan all able to meet the Rox minimum reqs (hit open 3s, not be horrendous defensive liability), do the Rox really an above average pg who costs 8M a year? LOFS will say yes, but then that's why they're called LOFs.

This is why it's important that Lin should raise his game, he's not competing with the pgs he's competing with Parsons, Asik and Les Alexander's willingness to pay the lux tax. If he can reach superstar or near superstar level (which I think he can), then Rox will never let him go.

Not surprised he would say those things about the players.
We have high expectations but i'm also cringing ever time i think about it and how much luck hasn't been on our side. I fear injuries and then a delayed reaction to change coaches later on.

Totally agree. Dream is blind. Where is the true PG who deserves starting more on the team!

Based upon what Feigen said in his/Chron's overview of the Rockets' point guards, it appears as though the opposite may be what happens. That is, Lin starts and Bev finishes.

We'll see how things shake out. There will be time to try different lineups and combinations as the season goes on. As long as people stay healthy, of course.

I find it amusing also that Hakeem was always considered short at a true 6'10" while D-12 is called a seven footer at all times and Hakeem is every bit as tall as Dwight Howard in ALL photos. D-12 is roughly 7-foot and Hakeem has proven to be less than that, and properly measured in shoes at 6'10" at best. It makes me laugh when everyone spouts heights as a good qualifier for big men, especially centers, yet hardly ever gets the heights right. OK, so Olajuwon was only 6'10" on a good day, but he was by far the best Center of his day, without argument, and is one of the best big men of all time, no matter what the qualifying argument is. Done, No arguments accepted as the Dream is one of the Top 10 overall players of all time without exception.

I take Dream's opinion over pretty much all other opinions because he has more basketball knowledge than most b-ball experts combined. If Hakeem says D-12 is the answer for the Rockets moving forward, I will believe it. Hakeem knows the center position and the qualities that make it the most important position on the floor better than anyone else. If he believes this Rockets squad has what it takes to make it all the way to another ring, I will believe. GO ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you that Bev is a better contract than Lin. I mean, with that logic Parsons is a better contract than Harden. But in the league today, $8mm for a player like Lin whom still has some upside is quite reasonable. I mean, just look what other guys are getting and you will see that Lins contract is reasonable for his output.

The other point you mentioned is quite valid. Do we need a $8mm PG w Howard and Harden? Via Howard, Lins touches will decrease even more. I mean, you look at the Laker teams with Shaq/Kobe, all they needed was a cheap rotational player like Fisher and he was fine. I actually think Fisher was a better fit for the team than if they had say a Rondo of today while Rondo is a much better player.

So from that standpoint in terms of team fit and what we need now, Bev may be a better fit. In terms of player, Lin is a ton better.

Olajuwon, a two-time NBA champion and 12-time All-Star with the Rockets, was impressed with the newly acquired Howard.

"Dwight can clearly dominate this league comfortably," Olajuwon told Fox 26. "He has everything that he needs, and he has desire and work ethic to do it."

Olajuwon also stressed the importance of Lin, who will be counted on to lead a team that features Howard, All-Star guard James Harden and emerging forward Chandler Parsons.

"To be on the right team, which he is right now, he can really help and play his role very well and be effective," Olajuwon said of Lin. "There's no pressure on him now. It's on Dwight and James. His position is crucial for the team's success, and he can play that role very well."

I love my franchise. Dream is giving back his knowledge to the new rockets. I love it. I hope Lin understands a lot is expected of him and he needs to deliver. Its put up or shut up time.

Olajuwon saying "take him to the post" is like John McEnroe saying "go to the net." It's a reflex.

A lot of the "attention" is from the fight between the irrational Lin fans and their haters.

Most posters here thought Lin was an overhyped, overpaid serviceable player who was expendable after Harden came.

A lot of posters thought Linsanity was too small a sample size yet after only half a season believed that Beverley was better than Lin.

    Hypocrisy is rampant.

It's not just your post, but a lot of people have used the whole Chandler Parsons being better value than Insert-Player-X. But I don't understand why people say it. Let's say Parsons is worth $8mil/yr, which I think most would say is fair market value. Makes him $7mil/yr underpaid for this year and next(assume the Rockets pick up his option). Meaning he's saving the Rockets maybe $15mil before he makes market value.

Harden is getting paid $16mil/yr for the next 5 years. If his market value assuming no max is a conservative estimate of $25mil/yr, that means he's saving the Rockets $45mil for the next 5 years. AND for as long as Harden remains a star, he'll continue to be underpaid for most of his career.

And as an added bonus Harden makes other stars(which by CBA rules are also underpaid) more likely to come to the Rockets. Which raises his value further.

This. Just having DHo on the floor will make opposing teams think twice about taking cheap shots at Lin.
