Got the same message as you guys, so I connected it to my laptop and updated via iTunes. Try using that route if the wifi connection is not working for you guys. Take note, the iTunes connection takes longer. It took me an hour. So far I like this update. It doesn't give the iPhone an edge on the other phone software, but it brings it on par with the other phones out there. So good update and looking forward for new innovations by Apple.
i picked the worst day of the ****ing year to swap out my phone for a new one. the servers are so bogged down i can't activate it. no calls, no texts.
Not everyone is going to like it. But the update gives the iPhone a modern look. I believe its all about the background. If you have a nice background that go along with the new app graphics, you'll embrace this new update. For example, if you choose the first still wallpaper as your background, everything pops.
The update is alright. Definitely some new useful features. The design is ok. Not sure I'd classify it as modern... Maybe I just don't know what modern is. Some of it feels very cheap. Some I like a lot. Like email and safari look great when in the app... But nothing on the home screen looks good.. The app icons themselves. I do think background matters more here. Haven't tried iradio yet. Given the above cheap comment, the 5c / 5s decision already seems to be going south for Apple. 5c is way outselling 5s in America, so sales are being cannabilized, yet 5c probably still too expensive overseas. Even though 5s isn't that much more expensive and is from a hardware perspective a way better phone. The wife has a 4s so will probably be updating to 5s. Looking forward to what always seems like and apparently is again a big jump in camera quality. Very important with young kids. But I wonder if Apple would have been better off waiting to split into two models until the 6 came out, when it appears they might be splitting into various screen sizes as well...
Supposedly they have a low inventory of 5s. Also the 5c has colors which is the most important thing to most people.
Whatever the reason, if someone is buying the cheaper version (be it because they can or they like a color better) instead of a more expensive version... That's not a good thing.
Not sure how update servers affect your cellular activations, as your carrier's servers shouldn't be overloaded with anything, and your new phone likely shipped with ios6
Updated the iPad last night and the wife's iPhone 5 over night. Got to mess around for a few minutes before work on the iPad. I'm upgrading to the 5s tomorrow, so no point in upgrading my 4s right now. Really looking forward to the upgraded camera, as that's probably what I use my phone for most. 3/4ths of my memory right now is just pics and videos of my boys.
Definitely my favorite feature as well. It has the best Pimp C station that I've ever heard. Im looking forward to creating more stations.
