Just put in disc 2 (so you'll have to play it off of the disc). They don't recommend installing the game onto your hard drive.
Put in 6 hours. Love it. The map is Huge. Still haven't revealed it all and that was my primary mission yesterday.
So whats all the fuss about this play disc I don't understand? I saw the video and I don't want to pay 60$ for a game full of glitches...
Crap, I installed the first disc...So, is it pointless for me to keep moving forward in the game bc some weird glitch will happen? It didnt really give me an option (I think)...bc I had the Disc 2 in and it gave me an alert to put in Disc 1 for installation. There were a bunch of updates when I first popped the game in, is it possible any issues were fixed with the updates?
The first disc you MUST install. It happens automatically. Rockstar have said not to install the PLAY disc. That is the second disc that you will have to have in the console to play the game.
Ok, I see, thanks...I didnt even notice an install for the 2nd disc, when I put it in, I just started playing.
Put in a good 4 hours last night, really enjoying it. The soundtrack is pretty good. I want to see how many vehicles are in this game before I start modding one out.
So yesterday I figured I would casually stroll in to my local gamestop after work and pick up my copy like ive always done since Vice City. There was a line of about 12-15 people I think thats a first for a gta Launch. I thought I would be out of luck since I didnt pre order but they had plenty of copies for everyone.
You wouldn't normally, but some people prefer to install the games to play them off of the hard drive instead of the disc. If you attempted to do that with this PLAY disc, you'd get glitches. Basically, you'd have to go through extra, unprompted, steps to get the glitches.
FWIW, while I believe the 360 was singled out for those glitches (and only in that edge case), I think I've seen reports that PS3 users who got the digital version may experience similar things (might depend on the HDD they have though). I believe the issue might be that Rockstar designed the game to pull in data from both the HDD and the disc drive (at the same time), so if it is limited to just the HDD, there might be problems. Hence the problems in those cases.
lol i dont know how metacritic rated the 360 version better than the ps3 version, when every other gaming review site rated the ps3 version superior actually most of rockstars games where made for the ps3 and then ported to the 360
So I should just put in the CD 2 then let it ride? And play with CD 1? I'm afraid to put in that second CD haha
If you don't do anything you're not prompted to do, you're not going to have any issues. You're not going to install the 2nd disc simply by putting it in the tray. You'd have to go though extra steps that they're not going to ask you to do for that to happen.
framerate, textures, less bugs are usually common in the ps3 version of rockstar games( so ive heard)... other than that, everything is identical
