I believe there was only seconds left when the penalty kick occurred. I doubt Mexico could have scored 2 goals (or anyone in general)
Leroy, I know it is not a Captain thing, but Dempsey got fouled, the team was up 2-0, I am assuming that they had no issue with letting him take the PK, and he is usually good at it. I mean come on, the team won, they knew there were basically in - why not let him take the PK? DD
nope, those players sucks now, Barrera its not going to be called again, Fabian maybe, but he is so inconsistent.
But what about in CR? Didn't end up affecting the outcome either way, but it's strange that they've gone with Dempsey all of a sudden. With that one and the miss, it should be Donovan's gig again.
I don't disagree, he nerfed 2 PKs in a row, got lucky in CR, that was a garbage kick. I just think for some reason this may be related to LD just coming back onto the team. LD has been and is still the best player the USA has ever produced. DD
It could very well be an open audition for who will take the PK's in the World Cup. Perhaps they're trying Dempsey out to see if he gives them a different dynamic. Obviously it's not working, but still, why not give it a shot now? You can always go back to Donovan in the World Cup.
As Dakota mentioned, most likely has to do with LD's return to the team and Dempsey now being the top guy in Klinsy's mind. I swear I don't think anything in world soccer has irritated me more than the whole Donovan return and the way some US fans and apparently Klinsy acted- basically like he needs to grovel and accept any role and be grateful just to be back in the fold. F^ck that bullsh. 1. The guy is w/o a doubt the greatest American to ever lace a pair of footy boots. 2. The guy took a sabbatical to clear his mind. No other National team player(w/the exception of Freddy Adu) has had that much pressure on him from his teenage years on. 3. It's not like he decided to just take a break from playing for his national team like so many other players from countries around the world- ESPECIALLY African countries, do. He took a break from club and country. He didn't play games like some other players would- *cough cough* Kevin Prince-Boateng * cough* ie announcing retirement from international footy to concentrate on club matches-coincindentally during the early and mildly pointless part of African qualifying and the voila announcing a return when the country is right at the final stage of qualification. I just think fans and Klinsy (from what I can tell) have given LD a tough time when that shouldn't be the case. (And I spent the better part of the last decade as a major LD hater. LD and Beasley to be honest). Anyway, hopefully others get a chance at PKs and not just Dempsey. Might as well give Mike Bradley a go as well as Jozy.
Los Ticos are under investigation. Uh-oh. http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/09/rican-federation-investigation.html  LOL! He thinks U.S.A. shouldn't have a camera behind them... "They're recording stuff we aren't supposed to be doing... reprimand them! "
Mexico hires Manuel Vucetich as the head coach of the soccer national team. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ch-el-tri-rescue-mission-hopefully-hot-potato I think its a great coach, he has won a lot in the mexican league, so he can get the job done (qualifying to the WC).
WHAT THE F@#()*@#&$)(&#)%^@)%*&^$%#_+$_!!!!!! LOS TICOS ARE ELIMINATED FROM THE WORLD CUP!!!! http://eldeforma.com/2013/09/17/fifa-elimina-costa-rica-del-mundial/ Spoiler LOL @ "El Deforma"
I'm more than sure that they are connected with more losses. Man, are these guys poor, or WTF? Sad for the sport, nonetheless. Winners from those matches should withdraw them.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it play a role in who gets the 7 available (Brazil gets one automatically) seeds in the Cup?
No. Pots do, and seeding procedure has been different for the last two Cups. Procedure for 2014 has not been decided. You know USA has not been ever chosen as seed even when they were at their best ahead of Mexico or any of the other Confederation leaders.
Yes, I'm aware. FYI...WC 2010 seeds were based solely on Oct 2009 FIFA World Rankings. So, it would appear that it is likely they will play a part again.
