A keypoints of article that I found interesting:

I knew that there was a huge boom going on right now in the state, but this is amazing, IMO. Because of so much hyperbole coming from both sides, I'm still unsure about the actual enviromental cost of fracking. I'd really like to know more about what fracking does to the environment (Granted I haven't done much research.) But at any rate, TX's ressurgance here is pretty impressive.

Companies are selling assets overseas to increase production in the lone star state

I'm confused- production, as in refining/manufacturing? As in having oil corporation headquarters based in TX? Because I have a very hard time believing we are actually drilling or fracking anything that comes close to the Ramallah oil fields within TX.

Hopefully Railroad is monitoring this and, like Sterling did long ago, making sure to curtail production and pre-empt another Spindletop. Other than that, thanks to the dinosaurs.

The Railroad Commission is run by a bunch of corporate tools. I doubt they have the foresight to actually manage and encourage sustainable oil production and development.

I would say secede, but then the U.S. would just invade us.

We have the right to secede, BTW.

No we don't. We can do it...but there's no explicit right anywhere to secede. We'd get the same thing we got the last time we tried...our ass kicked.
