Can we stop asking crap in absolutes, or re-imaging a topic three or four times over within the same b**** cycle?

This was a cute rant but no country ranks first in all or even most of the metrics discussed here. The only thing I got out of it was Sorkin's and Jeff Daniels' comeback and the latter looking good for his age (whatever it is).

We are good in certain areas, worse in others. At the end of the day, we are not unique snowflakes, as much as we want to believe that here.

Overall, yes it is. America's civil rights are probably the best in the world. America has the best situation with regards to natural resources.

There are areas where America used to be the best but has fallen off.

America doesn't have the best health care system. America isn't the easiest company to make your own fortune and move up in economic status in.

    So America is in decline.

If you're allowing a show as lazy as The Newsroom to influence your worldview, I'm sorry.

Unnecessary thread. Everyone knows Africa is the greatest country.

I have....... and Houston and the USA is better than a large majority. Are there problems? Absolutely, but everyone has problems.

Really, the idea of "greatest" is just too subjective.

I agree, but I never would have questioned whether you have/have not lived and/or traveled elsewhere...

One republican analyst this morning on PBS was blaming Obama for kids bad attitude these days.

Politics is bringing this country to greatness.

I don't have enough colorful adjectives in my vocabulary to describe what a pile of pretentious garbage the Newsroom is.

The US has something no other country has; an endless line of foreigners trying to get in. This means when a person factors everything that is important to them (freedom, opportunity, security, etc...) they overwhelming pick to live and raise a family in the US. This is really the only metric one could use to measure something as vague as 'greatness'.
