    LHN is stupid in general.

Funny statement. Personally I love the LHN. It has zero to do with the product on the field. It provides the school an extra 15 million a year so whenever the school leaders finally get their heads out of their asses and realize both Daddy DeLos and Mack need to go they will certainly have the coin needed to lure a top coach and AD to try and fix this mess.

Were the Longhorns hurting for cash before the LHN? Has the lack of funds prevented them from going after a top AD or coach in the past?

they haven't plucked a TOP coach in recent times. Mack was promising at UNC previously, and before that it was Mackovic from Illinois. A little different than the idiots thinking UT-Austin branch can go grab Saban...

I don't believe UT was the #1 brand in college athletics when Brown and Mackovic were hired.

UT has to be one of if not the premier coaching job in college football. So who is on the list of possible candidates?

Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher, Art Briles?

I still don't think he should have. And after a pretty good season last year and 19 of 22 starters returning I'm completely dumbfounded at how big of a step backwards they've taken.

Mack has got to step down. I don't DeLoss has the balls to fire him

Nope but now they have 15 million bicks a year more. The LHN is a great finacial investment for the college. Only a moron would argue agains that one singular fact. If you hate it...who cares.

They game day coverage is great even if it does not currently reflect the product on the field which is of course, sub standard.

If you don't like it because you don't have the LHN and miss a couple of games a year then that s completely different. UT was already the most hated school in the Big 12. The LHN is just something those haters can latch on to in an attempt to further justify their hate.

A&M had a chance to be apart of the network when the idea was still in its infancy and the declined the offer. Only after all of the leg work had been done and it became obvious that UT was about to cash in did they ask to be let into the deal. Well tough **** A&M, they had their chance and wouldn't take it.

The LHN has absolutely zero negative effect on the product on the field, but it does have the potential of having a positive effect if we can ever retire the current regime.

Coaches have complained about the time they have to spend on it (before walking back the criticism, presumably due to pressure from above). And it's almost certainly affected interest in basketball and recruiting, since about half the season has been unavailable for most people to watch.

I think it's a phenomenal business deal for UT and a horrendous one for ESPN.

That being said, if you watch the LHN without being a UT alum/student/fan, it is brutal to watch. I was watching to see some of the freshmen from Ole Miss and to see if UT could stop the run and every commercial has some UT alum in it or something like it and it's awful. Also, would mark it down as more biased/one-sided then local sports coverage, which I think it should be as it's LHN but it hurts to watch if you're not a longhorn fan.

All that is likely true since it is geared towards UT. I especially think its a bad deal for ESPN if more carriers don't start offering it.

Well you clearly have no clue. I have verizon Fios and the longhorn network. Now Jr, go back to your room and watch the TV provided to you by your mommy and daddy.

I understand what you are saying but I just don't buy it. All coaches complain about media access but its here regardless if they like it or not. Coaches have a tendency to embellish IMO. Having said that I certainly can't make the claim that it has zero effect, I just think its way overblown.

Also, I just don't buy in that it effects college recruiting for basketball. But once again I'm not certain either of us can provide numbers one way or another support our position but I can't totally discount your claim either.

I saw that last night in his post game press conference. I almost fell out of my chair!

Reporter: what did you tell your guys after the game Mack?
Mack: Don't worry, when we win the Big 12 these last 2 losses won't matter.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Here's a thought for Mack, learn how to win a game before you start thinking about winning the Big 12!

Totally agree. The only market there would be enough concentration of diehard UT fanatics to make the LHN worth it is Austin. Anywhere else, it's brutal. ESPN way overestimated the value of the UT brand.

The brand was fine, nobody expected the channels launch to coincide with the programs freefall. The basketball and football teams aren't required viewing even for Longhorn fans like myself. I don't get the channel, and I don't miss the channel.

Combine that with the fact that in one of the most important makets, Houston, it is basically going head to head with CSN. You can have one or the other but not both. UT is gonna certainly lose that battle.
