I'm going to go with Panda Express -- steamed veggies with teriyaki grilled chicken -- super fast and healthy (IMHO).
In Sacramento (where we have Panda Express) I'm gonna go with Pollo Loco. You can get very healthy chicken tacos, tortilla soup, and black beans. Delicious.
For Jack in the Box: Chicken Fajita Pita. Not a gimmick that thing is healthy as hell. Really bland though. Don't add salsa, request no cheese. Its just lettuce, grilled chicken, and whole wheat with mild seasoning. Don't let the name fool you, some of the unhealthiest chains in the country have some really good options in their menus.
I never put the sauce on the chicken they always put it in a container on the side -- they have a few 'low cal' meals that are good, but the teriyaki chicken is my favorite.
I suspect their chicken is marinated in some sort of semi-unhealthy juice, but i've waited while they cooked a fresh batch and it looked good -- no weirdness during the cooking process.
Are there any burgers that are semi-low fat/ healthy? Say you get a Whataburger with no dressing or cheese (just lettuce/ tomato) and skip the fries and soda -- that seems relatively healthy and most importantly filling.
You know, I hate to say this but beef is just bad news. Study after study finds more and more to fear with beef. And I'm not even going to start on environmental impact. I love beef, but it's a splurge, a rare zig-zag in a good diet, based on all available data... And that makes me cry a little.
Thanks for staying away from the environmental impact -- also never post 'I love beef...it's a splurge' again.
Won't happen. That you're even mentioning fries and soda belies our compulsion for that taste pattern.
