Awesome! The Rockets need to invite him to a game. Give him Les' court side seats for a game like they've done with other players. Maybe throw in a pre or post game autograph session (so I can finally get my Thorpe jersey autographed.) He didn't make the 90's team of the decades team for the 45th anniversary, but it still would be nice for him to be acknowledged and recognized by the team and fans 20 years after his time with the Rockets.
I have to assume that the Rockets will attempt to plan some sort of 20th Anniversary celebration of the Rockets' first title and invite all the players to a late season (or possibly playoff) game. Hakeem, OT, Vernon, Kenny, Horry, Cassell, Elie, Bullard, Herrara, etc. Hell, if they play the Thunder in the playoffs again, Scott(y) Brooks will already be there!
He played 82 games a season, basically every season with the Rockets . He never whined about injuries, or took every other game off. He played every damn game. Dude had no game beyond about 4 feet, but man, inside those 4 feet, he was an absolute monster. You have to give quality to get quality, and we gave up a lot of quality to get Drexler.
Awesome! Everyone always talks of Hakeem needing to be around more, but I always wanted OT to appear more.
By the way Rockets history is FOR EVERYONE NOT for "1 person" to squat on it and have dominion on Rockets nostalgia. WE appreciate this
i always think of his 1 handed dunk on the fast break... how he just holds it up like the statue of liberty and dunks it.... lol
THE most underappreciated Rocket of all time imo. His number needs to be in the rafters next to Hakeems.
Met O.T. at Smoothie King Once.. Right when he got traded from Detroit to Vancouver. I told him how great a city it was. Then he start asking me questions about how was it up there. I dunno why though.. anywhoots i ask if I could put my hands up to his to compared.. Dude has Huge Hands! One of my all time fav Rockets... Him and Buck Johnson.. oh and Sleepy Floyd and Hakeem of course.. lol
