After being rejected multiple times, would he still want to come back?

No mention of Craig Bohl from North Dakota State?

He's won 30 of his last 32 games there and back-to-back FCS championships. He would also bring that hard-edged old-school Nebraska mentality to Austin, since he's played and coached for Tom Osborne.

Rejected? Don't forget that that Gray signed on as DB coach and then bolted just a couple days later for the Titans job. I don't blame him at all but he shouldn't have any ill feelings.

This would be a massive mistake. UT has too rich of a football tradition and too strong of a fanbase to try out an FCS coach.

If you wont give Charlie Strong a shot, David Shaw is your man

30 miles down 35 is a currently undefeated coach.

Yes, stealing an FCS coach could never work for a school with a rich football tradition and a strong fanbase.

Forgot about Tressel, but im not sure if this situation is the same.

He had extensive Ohio and Ohio State ties, besides his FCS success. Also, his predecessor was nowhere near as successful as Mack Brown.

This. Shaw is a Stanford alumn so I wonder if he'd leave.

I would be a HUGE fan of Charlie Strong. Great recruiter, great coach, all of the kids praise him and he'd be a present for the Alumni gatherings.

I'd almost have to root for UT a bit if they landed Strong.

Perhaps, but he did coach on 2 National Championship teams in Nebraska.

I'm surprised he doesn't have FBS schools kicking down his door after what he's done the last 2 years at NDSU. Especially with the big win at K State a few weeks ago (which I called, btw... :) )

I don't know, I don't have any skin in the game here. Just throwing his name out there as a wild card.

He wants be a head coach big time. He would definitely come back. I'm not sure Texas would hire a black coach though. The boosters are still good ole boys.

I wouldn't mind Tressel. Charlie Strong is a pretty good option also as previously mentioned.

Ohio State could say the same, but Tressel worked out pretty well.

Inside Texas and Orangebloods seem to think Bob Bowlsby, current Big XII commissioner, will be the next AD. He hired Harbaugh and Shaw as AD at Stanford.

You woudn't mind a guy operating under an NCAA show cause penalty till 2017?

In that case, Jerry Sandusky may also be availabe.
