I'm not crazy about the "Qualified" t-shirt. Reminds me of the AFC South Champs t-shirts the Texans wore. Yes, qualification is difficult...but for this team, it's expected and only a part of the journey. I'd be willing to bet Jurgen didn't care for them either.
Just a reminder that you shouldn't take things like this so lightly/for granted. Mexico is expected to qualify, yet they're on the verge of doing the exact opposite.
They were expected to qualify 5 months ago but everyone saw the fail coming weeks ago. As soon as they lost against Honduras it was over. Did they print these shirts 4 years ago too? They should print one when they finally beat Ghana
Just go ahead and hand the US the World Cup now. The other 31 countries just stay at home and watch baseball and mls next summer.
Yeah, no. Just because the U.S. beat Mexico 2-0...? That already happened three times, and all those three times you didn't make it past the second round in the respective World Cups, ese. What's different this time around? Oh, yeah, Landon had pinkeye. <- I'm not winking at you, that's the way he looked.
Yes, I know he wasn't being serious. Hence my " " and not " " or " ", man. Come on, now... learn to read me.
Never forget this 2-0 ....to make it to the final ocho. The other ones were nice home qualifying wins but getting to the final 8 and giving Germany hell in that quarterfinal match is still the best USA i've seen.
Not trying to sound like an a**hole, but neither of those things has anything to do with who takes penalties. You go with who's the best. Donovan has been the penalty taker for years...including the years when Bocanegra was the captain. Speed, obviously has nothing to do with it as well. I look at it like this...what if goal differential could have mattered? Plus, there were still a couple of minutes left. Mexico, in theory, could have gotten a goal. A 3rd would have ended it with certainty.
Sure. You'll always have that, but just because y'all win 2-0 AGAIN doesn't mean it's "WE'RE THE BEST IN THE WORLD, GIVE US THE CUP NOW" like Kam said jokingly, even. Captain doesn't decide who kicks those. Where did you get that from?
They did in 2010, they probaly will do it again in Brazil in 2014. Why did Mexico left Marco Fabian, or Pablo Barrera home?!?!?!? They should of played.
Did he really have pink eye? I kept waiting for them to focus on him, but it's hard to do that in soccer when there are no time outs. I honestly thought he got hit early in the first half and he had a black eye, I didn't watch any of the pre-game so maybe they discussed it before...
just for the record: I was referring to Dempsey getting his miss out of his system for penalty shoot-outs in WC play.
