How the f*** does CONCACAF not see this and rescind the yellow card? That's pathetic. That CR punk should be given the yellow and fined.
Wow is all I can say about that "foul." Missed this match and just realized that we lost. So we need 4 points? How many matches left to accomplish this?
It's everything wrong with FIFA. They claim to care about the integrity of the game, but only in the vacuum of the game itself and refuse to make substantive post-game decisions that would actually restore it. Rescinding this yellow and giving it to the Costa Rican forward makes perfect, absolute sense. But, they won't do it because that would require admitting that they are wrong in every instance of rules and regulations.
Albeit, being unfair and completely cheating in The Game, this is where "experience" usually would hurt those who are trying to play the game fairly. It's sad that there isn't already a rule to combat these types of things. The in-game scoring or play-calling are human error type mistakes, but the blatant FAKING and DIVING can be corrected with fines and rescinding the cards and suspensions. I don't agree Besler should be out for that yellow. Same goes for the Costa Rican cabbies... the federation of the host country should send a message to allow the game to be played fairly, but that's the extent of their power. Nothing else. They can't force the locals to do something they're not willing to do.
GAME DAY After last night/this morning, I'm a bit drained. But, my energy will be back the moment they kick off. This should be a very interesting game. mexico with a new coach and badly needing a win. The US with many players out due to injury/suspension on the verge of clinching. If I'm reading this correctly, the US and Costa Rica clinch with wins tonight. Though, we might still need Panama to lost @ Honduras...which is a good bet to happen.
I'm going to have to watch the game delayed so I'll have two late nights in a row. Hopefully this game is worth staying up late for as well.
This is going to be an interesting match. I'm not too confident due to the suspensions and injuries. Hopefully the environment in Columbus is more pro-USA than most (I believe that, until proper support can be generated, all USMNT matches should be played in Seattle or Portland) and we get a boost. It'll be interesting to see if Mexico has any cohesive style, given the coaching change. I'd like to see Aron Jóhannsson get some more minutes if it's obvious that we won't be getting much attacking creativity early on. Our possession was terrible in the last match, though, so you can't expect the former without the latter.
MEXICO will strike while the Columbus is HOT! I don't recall the last time we played there when it was "warm" as this early in the Fall.
I'm going to tune in just for the usa is nothing to f' with chants! don't disappoint! Y No play game in California or any major city? =)
Advantage for U.S. and A.: more of a home crowd, since most MEXICANS there are laborers without proper documentation and usually will not attend the game. This is my opinion based on previous games.
they play here because it's a small stadium and they only offer tickets to Crew season ticket holders. How many of them do you think are Mexican?
05 qualifier was in early September as well (US clinched with that win)...01 and 09 both cold weather games(early in hex).
^ True. http://www.columbusalive.com/content/stories/2013/09/05/u-s--mexico-at-crew-stadium-the-history.html Last three games 2-0 each for the barras y las estrellas.
I won't be able to watch the game live... I guess it's possible there will be a torrent uploaded later. Anyone know anything about this?
