I think this deserves its own thread.

Maurkice Pouncey had a Titans defender engaged in a decent block, David Decastro goes to execute a seemingly illegal chop block on said Titans defender, misses, and takes out Pouncey's right knee.

Freak injury? Karma for trying to execute an illegal block? Karma for the free Hernandez hat?

Edit: got my Pounceys mixed up.

    ACL/MCL/out for season enough?

Steelers front 5 - so cursed they even wreck themselves. Never should have gotten rid of Faneca.

That is what I'm thinking. Just before he goes in with the final push his head is up and I would think looking right at his target. Then with the final push with his legs head goes down and hits teammate.

That play by DeCastro was unspeakable moronic.

Here is DeCastro's injury during last year's preseason caused by a teammate (not Pouncey) falling on his leg.

Thing is, even if he had properly executed the attempted block - it is illegal! Just idiocy all the way around. No excuse for it. Steelers should fine him internally/possibly suspend him,but it won't happen. Had he hit the Titans player and hurt him, the league might have.

The Steelers look like a dumpster fire.

Can't believe I picked them as a wildcard.

    Wow. Wow. Wow.

Appears that DeCastro targeted Pouncey's knee. He clearly took a running shot (counted at least 3 steps) at Pouncey's lower leg while his head was up, and the crown of his helmet made the hit!

The D lineman wasn't even touched on that ILLEGAL chop-block.

This is just the beginning of this story... there's definitely bad blood there, IMO.

Gotta admit that Pouncey's affliation with Hernandez says a lot about the 'perception' of his character. That being said, I can't imagine why an NFL lineman would intentionally go after his teammate's lower leg like that. It's just crazy.

I have to admit, I've been wondering if there's something more to it, myself, which was, in a way, at least part of the reason I started this thread. I've never been a conspiracy theorist, though, so I didn't outright say it. Its convenient that it happened on the Steelers first drive, too.

Admittedly, I never played at a very high level(high school varsity), but I was someone who won some awards as a 210 lb. offensive lineman. I've thrown my fair share of legal cut blocks (due to being so much smaller than defensive lineman I was guarding), and even in high school, a lineman knows they should we their target when cut blocking, and they should aim for the thigh pad.

So, to beat a dead horse, its obvious Decastro saw that it was a teammate, said teammate wasn't moving much, leaving Decastro with a fairly stationary target, and Decastro went low.

This is far dirtier than the Suh thing yesterday, but Sun's history makes his hit more a story. This should be a bigger story than it is.

if I'm a Steelers fan, I have a hard time with Decastro even playing until he explains his side of the story and issues an apology.

Nobody around these parts shares that sentiment with you.

It's a physical game; these things happen, however unfortunate that may be.

Gotta admit that Tebow's affiliation with Hernandez says a lot about the 'perception' of his character.

Don't agree. I'm from 'these parts' and I share his sentiments.

We know it's a physical game but that doesn't explain how this particular 'illegal chop block' on an NFL teammate happened. It's very disturbing, to say the very least.

Unless you've played O-line in high school, college, semi-pro then I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss OP's insight. Just saying...

Yeah, they were teammates too. But that doesn't mean they were boys off the field. Also, where's the pic of Tebow in Pouncey's FREE HERNANDEZ cap?

Name one local source that did displayed any sort of outrage over the play. Not the Post-Gazette nor the Trib nor any local news station echoed these sentiments.

Common sense: do you really think DeCastro was trying to injure his own teammate?

Sure, chop-blocks are cheap and illegal for a reason. But I can promise you he wasn't targeting Pouncey with this unfortunate play.

Sorry for asking this here, I know there are probably other threads discussing what I'm about to ask you but just wondering, how is a PGH native(or resident) a Rockets fan? How did you become a Rockets fan or are you originally from/lived in H-town?

Also, yeah either bad blood or just really really moronic negligence on De Castro's part. I lean towards the latter and if not for the fact that Pouncey got injured I'd say it should be on Sportcenter's not top ten.
