Not at launch, but XB1 will support external HD's PS4 won't support external HD's, but you can swap out the internal one. *clarification: this is regarding game saves and installs; both systems will support music and video access through USB (like they currently do) Regardless, this whole "running out of space" fear is overblown. 2TB external runs about $100 today and prices will continue to drop. I agree with Salvy, but everyone else is correct in that general public are just not ready yet. A poor launch could spell doom for the life of a console. In the end, Microsoft will gradually re-introduce the features: http://www.computerandvideogames.co...me-is-right/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-General-RSS Also, SmartGlass looks incredible!

that website forum seems to really hate the xbox one. at least thats the way it seems every time i read from it
No, not really... Its just that the majority of members there are sony fanboys, and defend their console to the extent that it's as if they're worshipping the damn piece of plastic. it's pathetic. I'm getting a ps4 over the xbox one, but for all the slack the xbox community gets about being filled with little kids, i must say the playstation community seems a lot worse and more immature.
There you go.... But it appears to me that the reason they are acting this way is because they are scared that Xbox will be better so they feel like they must act fast and speak out as if they were born from a PS console... Fact is we should at least allow both consoles to come out first before saying one is better than the other. But most likely that wont happen. My prediction is both consoles are going to be solid and both consoles are going to have great titles. Both consoles will also find a sweet spot and exploit it. Something they are good at. And for the next 8 years we are going to have fan boys going at each other. It was around during the genesis vs Nintendo days. Then it turned into PS vs Nintendo. Now its PS vs Xbox.... And sadly its prob going to be around forever. This happens with everything thou. PC vs Mac.... Once again, both quality products but people will go out they're way to defend one over the other. Sometimes the points are legit and sometimes the points are straight up stupid. People need to learn to use what ever suits them best and will make they're life more enjoyable and easy. Not make up imaginary teams they don't belong to. If the fanboys were actually devs or engineers of the consoles I would understand. Anyways.... People need to grow the f#$% up....
Sports teams... consumer products... it's just people living out their tribal instincts. What will really tangibly differentiate one console from the other? The controllers? Kinect? Extra media capability? I mean they will pretty much have near identical game offerings, given 3rd party motivation to maximize market. That just leaves a handful of first party titles. And apart from those titles, a gamer doesn't really lose much picking one console over the other, right? Just like now, both consoles will have some form of Netflix, hulu, HBO Go, etc. Looks like the gaming experience is gonna pretty much be the same. The only difference between Watch Dogs or Witcher 3 on either console will be the controller, goofy DLC offerings aside.
NeoGAF isn't really a PS or XB community, but just a community of gamers. They were pretty pro-360 last generation, though they've slowly been more pro-PS since then (largely due to the shift in direction by both companies I think). The mods tend to be pretty good about keeping out fanboy talk in the forums IMO (PC fanboyism sometimes get a pass though ). They are made up of hardcore gamers who love indie games, love tech specs, hate casual gaming/gimmicks/QTEs, couldn't care less about a NFL app, etc. Also tends to have a lot more people outside of the US. So not really a surprise that they aren't really big on the XBO. MS has kind of ignored/shied away from this market in recent years, and these guys don't like that of course. Though admittedly, MS has also had a few PR nightmares with that forum recently, and I think that has made the board a little more anti-MS in general as well. I swear that MS is somehow equaling (if not surpassing) Sony's PR disasters from last generation.
i just started playing black ops 2, current gen is fine with me. plus the new gta is sweet. i'll wait, all you rich kids can drop all that cash on a new system
I love these "sources". From what I understand, it a driver issue with Xbox one and games havent been Optimized.
Nope Xbox has worst specs than the ps4 and that is a fact. Furthermore Edge is a respected gaming news company and you must be an idiot if you think industry sources would say all these things WITHOUT being anonymous. If they were ever found to be pimping the PS4, Microsoft would not be happy and that would hurt them and their company's bottom line.
But, when this is all translated to gaming, the differences will be minimal, at best...and mostly insignificant. So, in some ways, it's a little misleading, even though the PS4 does have better "specs".
To be fair, the system with the best specs hasn't won the console wars since SNES v Sega. Which means consumers care more about games and features. At this point, I'd give the edge to Xbox One in those two categories.
Edge is saying otherwise (differences will be "significant" and "obvious"). That can be subjective, though the specific example they give with resolution and framerate would probably be pretty significant to me. There have been a lot of devs lately (anonymous and otherwise) who seem to be stating that PS4's advantage is pretty significant. I still find it hard to believe Sony would be ahead of MS on dev tools/support (among other things), so I find it hard to believe devs would be able to easily take advantage of the hardware power the PS4 has to offer (or that they would want to). We'll see pretty soon I guess at least for the differences at launch. I'd expect the differences to widen a bit over time. A lot of the PS4's advantages will take time to utilize..XBO too with its ESRAM setup, though I think PS4 will see more significant progress over time. The power is definitely there to show something significant (this is more PS2-XBX than 360-PS3), but there are a lot of factors involved in what actually gets displayed on TVs with these multiplatform games. I'd have to dig into the shipments again, but PS3 might actually "win" this generation when it is all said and done (though whether that "win" is worth anything is another story). Presumably PS3 had the best specs this generation, though it was closer there than in the next-gen (360 did have better memory setup, better GPU, etc.). Though to your point, it definitely is about the games and features (and maybe even other things). Specs help (and I wouldn't underestimate their importance), but aren't the deciding factor at all.
