I really don't understand how someone could drown in a bucket of water willingly. It seems to me like the body's survival mechanism would kick in and cause you to thrash enough to take your head out and/or knock over the bucket.

 

even if u pass out, gravity on your body would then drag your head out of the bucket when you collapse to the floor

 

Drop a bunch of Benadryl and some whiskey to make yourself tired, then you'll be unconscious while you're drowning. Also, an old lady might not have the energy or strength to get up out of the bucket or cough the water out of her lungs.

Heard the same story about my friend's neighbor. A retired couple and was in bad financial trouble. the husband asked his wife to buy groceries and he shot himself in teh garage. he really set it up properly in a way that his wife did not have to spend time cleaning up the mess. this happened last year.

 

Especially as an inmate in a jail without a bucket. The article I mentioned sounds fishy. He was in a cell with 3 other inmates.
