Unless you're POPS and the Spurs... Their own Big 3 are all home-grown and they don't really have a Big 3 super egos. There's only one boss and everybody listens to POPS and acts inside the system or you're out.

I'd rather make a few minor changes and try winning it all in the manner of the 2004 Pistons or the 94 Rockets.

You may think it wouldn't feel the same... But once they went thru a whole season together and we see the things they would have to overcome to win it all, it would just as sweet!

Even if we were to get both those guys, it won't be easy to win a championship!

I voted no. Mostly because I'm a Rockets fan, and I'd be having the time of my life. But additionally, Morey has been working putting togther a contender for years. Set back after set back. And now it's looking like fruition is around the corner.

I actually have a new found respect for Pat Riley pulling off the Heat's roster.

Ron Artest. I like all sports but it's hard for me to really be a hardcore fan of a team unless I can dig the players. Biggio and Bagwell kept me interested in the Astros for over a decade even in the years when it was obvious they were the only real talent in the lineup. I started following the Texans when they drafted Cushing. I just knew the guy was someone I wanted to see play every down of his career.

with the rockets, the idea of adding Crazy Pills Ron to McGrady and Yao was too good to pass up. didn't last long but it included the Lakers series and that was enough to get me hooked.

I agree with the OP. It is better to watch a well built team than a team with three stars and whatever players you can afford to put around them.
But this team could not have that problem with so many young players still looking to prove they belong.

Which is completely not the point.
Ego or not, they were at one time, and arguably still are, a monumental big three talent-wise. Definitely not underdogs...

Seriously underrated, not underdogs. Tony Parker and LEGEND Greatest of his generation Tim Duncan.

Most everybody loves an underdog story, but a championship is awesome no matter how you slice it. If you're hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy over your head then you've earned it, over the course of 82 games plus a playoff run. How can you savor a championship any less because you're a great team and proved it on the court?

I know it aint happening but if LeBron wants to continue winning rings, he should join Harden and Howard in the summer of 2014. Man, that would be a sick trio. Best shooting guard, best center, and the best player in the league all on the same team.

If Olajuwon, Pippen, and Barkley didn't get eliminated by the Lakers and went on to win the title, it still counts and people would have celebrated. There's different ways to try and make a Super team and it's been like that for years.

    So no.

If we were able to asemble the best at all 5 positions via either trade or free agency, went 82-0 every year & won a heap of championships I would be overjoyed!

    I vote no.

I think most people are misunderstanding the scenario in the OP. The OP didn't ask "who doesn't like winning?"

If the stars of the league said "winning is too hard on a normal team, we've decided to pick a random destination with cap space (Houston) to team up and ensure personal glory and personal brand/marketing potential", would it be equally as sweet as winning with an organically grown team?

I honestly don't think so. Of course - not everyone will agree. We've been debating reactions to The Decision and the Heat welcoming party for how long now? There have been Big-3's before; but "superfriends" is referring to a specific scenario.

Title is a title in my book. No matter how you get the players...if you get the players, and they win, it's as good as it gets in my opinion.

Like...I don't think the Heat's championships the last 2 years have had less "savor" than their 2006 championship.

The only thing I guess I would say is a championship of drafted players than you personally develop reflects better on your management/scouting etc. than just getting a bunch of top free agents. But from a fan's perspective, doesn't make any difference to me.

Miami Heat IS a normal team, the only difference is LBJ, Wade and Bosh took power into their own hands instead of being dumbasses and praying and hoping they land into a good team.

There has never been a "normal" team that's won a ring in the history of the NBA, that's because you have to win several best of 7 games to win it all so every champion team is quite strong. I mean, the 6 peat bulls for example, was able to get to the NBA finals without MJ playing. In fact, a lot of people like to get MJ's "I wanna beat Bird and Magic, not play with them" soundbite, but they conveniently forget MJ spent majority of his career letting his sidekick Pippen dominate his would be rivals. If you want the precursor to the LBJ/Wade/Bosh trio, then look no further than MJ/Pippen/Rodman.

As long as we win the title I don't care if Scottie pipped is head coach.
