If Denver defense is good this year, he could easily win another super bowl. He should have beaten Ravens last year but for the lucky pass.
He's 9-11 all-time in the postseason with 8 one-and-dones (in 12 trips). And he's had different personnel, coaches, heck, even teams - he's your constant. His postseason performance comes nowhere close to his regular season performance.
Anybody who uses last night as a reason for choosing Manning over Brady loses all credibility in my book. The Ravens defense was atrocious all night long, and the Broncos started at least two drives from inside the Baltimore 35. Brady would have thrived just as much under last night's conditions as Manning did.
Yeah... I didn't mention Matt Schaub... or any other QB, for that matter. So those must be your eyes. My eyes? They see a tremendous QB who has consistently underperformed in the postseason. A career 96 QB rating in the regular season falls to 88.4 in the postseason. Even the year he won his one and only SB, he threw 3 TDs, 7 INTs and never posted a QB rating above 81.8 in any of his four games. So this idea that Peyton Manning is the final piece of any team's puzzle, let alone the Texans', flies in the face of overwhelming evidence.
Aren't you the one that's constantly harping about how Schaub's record against good teams should be worse, because that's the reality of facing good teams? Why wouldn't you expect Manning's QB rating to be lower when playing a bunch of great defenses? Beyond that, the 11 in 9-11 is the key - it means you took your team (as you mentioned, with different coaches, players, etc) to the playoffs a whole lot of times. Making the playoffs is not easy in the NFL with only 12 teams making it. When you can take your team to the playoffs every year, no matter how good or bad the rest of your team is, you make winning a Superbowl much more likely.
No. Never. And, again - what does Schaub have to do with this?....... Uh, OK... ? Did I disparage Peyton Manning's regular season success? Seem to recall labeling him "tremendous." And yes, getting to the playoffs makes it easier to win a Super Bowl... any idea why it's seemingly so hard for Peyton Manning considering he goes more often than any QB in the NFL?
Payton just needs a huge SB performance to put icing on his career. Let's hope he doesn't march over Houston getting there.
The problem with Manning in the playoffs, at least what I believe, is that Manning tries to be TOO PERFECT, and he doesn't play loose. What I mean is that physically Manning knows that he has the goods so internally he tries to UP his mental preparation and that's where he goes wrong. I refuse to believe that manning is choking under pressure. That ain't the problem. Mannings just screwing himself by putting too much pressure upon himself.
Jacoby Jones Sprained MCL: Out 4-6 Weeks http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9...-4-6-weeks-sprained-mcl-knee-according-report Karma for how he screwed over Houston 2 years ago!
I don't think it's particular "hard" for him. Most of those years, their running game or defense was mediocre, or sometimes outright terrible in the case of their defense. He's never had a Baltimore-like defense behind him. He was making those teams as good as they were rather than being carried by them, but they generally ran into teams that were simply better or hotter. Also, for the first part of his career, he couldn't ever figure out Belichick. And there's always a bit of luck involved. If they make one more play against Chicago out of hundreds and hundreds of playoff plays they had, is this even a discussion? Or if Jacoby Jones doesn't catch an absurd 70 yard TD? Ultimately, all you can do is put yourself in a position to win as often as possible, and hope things come together at times. He does that better than anyone. The idea that he isn't a missing piece to a team winning a Superbowl or dramatically increase a team's chances of winning one is ridiculous.
