DMo with the last second trey to get into double digits.

Also, amazing crowd! Do you guys think NBA games would be similar if we played in smaller/ more intimate venues?

No. Because a smaller venue would mean more expensive tickets and more expensive tickets mean that more of them would be sold to corporations and the "fans" would be professionals taking clients out. Not a recipe for passion.

It's not about small venues, Kaunas arena has ~15k seats and last season they were loud as always in every Euroleague game. NBA arenas are filled with recreational spectators who come to eat and watch show, not support their team. That changes only in Playoffs.

You can tell that the NBA crowd isn't really as into it by the chants. The first time I heard "DEFENSE" I thought it was a joke. The most iconic NBA chant I can think of is "Beat LA" and even that has been run into the ground (even Clippers fans have used it against the Lakers, wtf) despite its absolutely awesome origins.

So, what's the deal with Javtokas? He started at C and played less than 5 minutes?

Brewer and Williams have non-guaranteed contracts.

Remember last year when Shaun Livingston got waived because it saved money?

As long as israel's guards can't make stops at the defensive end Israel isn't going anywhere. Offensively israel has 10 guy euroleague/nba talent. Defense is another story. Omri Casspi had this problem when he entered the league and Gal Mekel has this problem now.

Different situation. Livingston actually had an impact on cap room. Casspi really does not.

Livingston had a $3.5M deal, with $1M guaranteed. Houston would have more than $5M in cap room, IIRC, with him waived and $2.5M less without waiving him. The cap room was useful in facilitating the Robinson trade and signing Aaron Brooks (or in the making of a number of potential deals).

HOU has no cap room now, regardless of what it does with any of the non-guaranteeds.

He seems to be pretty bad, Nenad Kristic destroyed him earlier. Not sure why Valanciunas isn't starting but I'm not really that familiar with the team.

Caspi seems to be celebrating too hard on L'shana Tovah!

Completely true, I lol'd when I saw that Carl likes him.

    Great post! Repped.

Dragić was awesome, good win for Slovenia.

Oh, US is light years behind Europe in terms of fans.

So it's exactly the same way as it is in Europe.

Coach's decision probably. It's a back to back game, Javtokas is an older player and Valančiunas played well.. Expect similar stat lines for other teams in the next games, it's a long competition so it's important to stay fresh.

I wasn't thinking about cap room. I was thinking Casspi will likely make the team over Brewer & Williams, even if they play better than him in training camp, because it will save the owner $1 million.

Don't know why all of you are surprised or even angry

Casspi isn't a leader and never was - not in Maccabi, not in the Kings, etc; in Israel he's forced to lead, cuz he's the "NBA star", but he just can't. a player with a mentality of a bench player.
