Annoying thing about chrome cast is that the wireless is so weak. I even bought an extender for that part of the house and still no luck.

The good news is now I have better signal in my restroom.

Mine came in tonight and I got it installed and watched one show on YouTube.
It was really easy to install. You plug it into your HDMI. You can power it via USB or an external adapter. Fortunately I have a couple of USB ports near my HDMI ports on my TV so I was able to power it right off of there and not have cables hanging all over the place.
The only two apps it shows are YouTube and Netflix. And you can play movies from Google Store too. One disappointing thing that I found out was that you can't cast from the Chrome browser on your phone. It has to be the Chrome browser on a laptop.

yeah, would have been nice if it was chrome browser on phone. I did espn3 from chrome tab yesterday watching the US Open and it worked great. there is a delay from what's going on in the tab vs the TV. Wouldn't be so bad but I have to keep laptop lid open. You can't multitask like on a smartphone or tablet.

Open separate tab for what you're going to watch. Send to Chromecast. Minimize window. Ta-da. (I think)

Normally would work but espn3 in order to be full screen on the TV has to be full screen on the PC, unless i just want to watch in a tiny window.

Went to Best Buy and finally picked one up. Watching Breaking Bad from it now. Works as advertised. I'm digging it.

Only thing that sucks is that I see no Netflix promotion code on my receipt. Best Buy doesn't have my email to email me a code, either. What gives? Pretty sure at Best Buy they were advertising the Netflix promo...

Just got mine delivered from bestbuy.com. Waiting for the office to clear out later this afternoon and I'll try it out on the 70 inch in the conference room. I had it delivered to my job for just this reason, worked out perfect that it came on a Friday.

I am definitely disappointed about this. I don't know if its just my AVR or what, but I can't get anything that plays in Dolby 5.1 audio. I have to use the option from the Netflix player on my phone to stream stereo. When it try's to stream Dolby 5.1 it's just plays static, perfect video but just static for audio.

The video quality is amazing, but this audio issue is a huge let down.

I must spread rep before I can give it to you again, bruh. Thanks! Finally got one! It doesn't show Netflix though but I already pay for it anyways.

They will email you the code later. Also, if you got more than one you can't use all your codes at once. I guess you have to wait 3 months between applying them.

So does this plug into the Hdmi port on the tv or do you need a tv with USB ports?

HDMI. It will need separate power. If you have a USB on the TV then it can power off of that and is a cleaner setup.

Best Buy. Go to bestbuy.com, search chromecast, then check store availability. There should be stores that have them in stock. That's how i got mine.

Is there anyway to turn off the TV using this? I can turn on the TV and it changes to the correct input but there is no way to turn it off as far as I can see. Also is there anyway to disable the light on the device? I have it on all the time in the bedroom and the light while dim is not bothersome, it's a little distracting when i like my room pitch black.

It's a source, so you can't turn off the TV with it. Unless you have an IR adapter on your phone and use your phone as a remote to turn it off.
As for the light, my HDMI input is behind my TV so I don't even see it. But if it bothers you, a little electrical tape should take care of that.

Cover the light with black electrical tape.
