Couple of nice receptions and great punt returns. Unfortunate injury to senior NT Gary Lorance. He's one of our best defensive players. Don't know how serious it is, but supposedly he heard a pop. He spent the rest of the game either sitting or standing with crutches. Chron article: Spoiler *DAS WUT IM TALKIN BOUT Southland article: Spoiler
No updates yet that I could find. That's a drawback of following these smaller football schools - news is slow to get out. (And on Katfans the thread about his injury has been hijacked and is now about why we should/shouldn't play crappy teams. I swear it's worse than the LOF-infested GARM over there.) But most seem to be talking about the injury as though it is fairly serious. He was clearly in pain when it happened. He obviously won't play next week, but I'm not so sure he'll return at all. If so, huge loss. I expect teams to challenge us up the middle even more now.
NDS had a big win last weekend. Looks like the top 4 (NDS, Eastern Washington, Montana State, Sam Houston) teams *should* be right there at the end of this season. Those teams are so good...I think they would give a significant number of FBS schools a run for their money.
Look, I KNOW it's not going to happen, but it's nice to get a little love from the national media (USA Today).
Only because the game is at Kyle Field. Using University of Rice's 22 point home field advantage as a baseline and accounting for the fact that Hooter Stadium was recently named the least hostile home venue in the college football (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...lege-footballs-least-hostile-stadiums/page/11), home field adavantage at Bowers is what, 55 - 60 points? Play that game in Huntspatch and the Kats win easily.
Sam will put up points on the aggies. Their defense is very soft. Run it up the gut -- just like Rice did with ease.
I know what's going to happen, too...but my G-d...just to have that over my aggie friends would be a wonderful WONDERFUL thing. They absolutely would never hear the end of it from me. It was a game with Baylor just 1 year ago. Led at halftime 20-10. Run Flanders at them and see what happens.
So how are you guys planning to watch the game? I'm hoping to catch some stream. I figure Aggie folk somewhere would have a high quality one. ::EDIT:: Can't believe I posted a video with autoplay. Total n00b move, but I don't have the ability to edit that post. I guess it's too old.
I have a gig so I will be reduced to following the score on my phone app between songs. Coach Fritz will be on the Tim Brando show at 9:34 this morning. Link below: http://www.cbssportsnetwork.com/timbrandoshow
Damn! Kornheiser and Wilbon ripping hard on Sam Houston State. Wilbon said the school sounds like something out of looney tunes.
Well, we at least kept it moderately close until the middle of the 3rd quarter. Glad to see Sumlin called off the dogs in the 4th. That could have been very ugly... Let's just lick our wounds and be glad that no one was hurt. I may be going to the game in Huntsville on Saturday. It will be my first time back on campus in over a decade. Can't wait to see the Ocean of Soul! (assuming they don't get suspended again like last year...)
Get there early and walk around the campus. It's changed a lot since I graduated in August 2010, so I imagine it will look completely different to you. PS - Sorry, all, about the AutoPlay video! For some reason can't edit the post.
Per twitter (on Katfans), the Ocean of Soul will NOT be coming to the game on Saturday. I guess all's well that ends well. I have to go to my nephew's b-day party on Saturday so I can't go to the game after all. Probably going to the night game a week from Saturday instead. Looking forward to showing the wife all my old stomping grounds around town (and seeing the new Music building).
Since you haven't been in over a decade, don't be surprised if it doesn't exactly look like your old stomping grounds anymore. I haven't been in a couple of years but they've done some major remodeling of the campus the last 5 years. Not to mention the businesses in town that close down and open as something new every few years. The mall area on campus looks really nice now though. The Bowers upgrades (whenever they are supposed to happen) should be nice too.
