One of my favorite things about the iPhone is the size. I don't need a gigantic screen, I'd much rather have a phone that gives me everything I want and still fits in my shirt pocket. My contract with Verizon just ran out. I have the 4s right now but I suppose I'll wait a week or so for the 5s.
If the 5S is announced on the 10th, when would the initial ship date be? I'm due for an upgrade and in need of one for sure.
Usually the phones are available within a week or two after they're announced at these events if I remember correctly. I would probably say the phone would be available around September 20-25th range.
Apple and carriers are blacking out vacation days for employees around the 20th IIRC. So sometime around there.
I remember complaints being thrown around about how the longer iphone 5 broke the fomfortable thumb reach of previous iphone. Really though, I work with my motorolla razr just fine and like the bigger screen real estate.
Hmm, I am still rocking my 3GS. My contract is up but I'm cautious about leaving because I still have an unlimited data plan.
If it's with AT&T you should be able to upgrade and keep the unlimited data. I upgraded from 3GS to 4S and was able to keep mine.
Same here. You can (or could the last I checked, too), but the plans at AT&T are so convoluted they try to tell you with every option you finesse that these things cause you to lose your unlimited plan. (Tethering, new phone number, certain text plan options). Of course, it's gotten like buying a car now in those phone places. Are/were the rumors of them drastically throttling down speeds for unlimited plans where users were over a certain allotment? It's never happened to me, but I'm usually on wifi anyway. I'm just wondering as that would make the unlimited plan seem less precious. Honestly, the 3GS phone I have is fine, really. It works just like it should, and I don't have to upgrade to whistle and bell 2.x.x every time they roll out, but it is getting older now. I probably won't shell out the bucks for 32gb again, so that's another reason I hesitate.
Buy directly from the Apple store and your current contract just rolls over to the new phone. If you're do for an upgrade you still get it at the reduced price and you also don't have to deal with pushy sales people.
There is a throttle for unlimited customers, I think after 5 GBs? I think both AT&T And Verizon do this, IIRC. You shouldn't worry about the unlimited data thing, especially if you order an upgraded iPhone online. When you're checking out online, they make you choose your data plan -- it'll have your grandfathered unlimited plan option there. Every time I've called in to AT&T, they've asked me about family share data, and then I just mention that one of my lines has an unlimited plan and they step right back. If you need to upgrade a phone, definitely do it online so you yourself can make sure it's keeping the data plan.
As long as apple makes me use itunes to interact with mobile devices I am out of their reach. Itunes might be the single most annoying application-lock ever introduced. Every time I use it I want to throw a brick at my computer. Ha, the first thing I did post upgrading to a nexus 4 was uninstall itunes.
I haven't had to plug my phone into iTunes for years. Cloud handles all my backups, iTunes match handles all the music. No need for me to sync.
