I don't think you should ever buy a PC or console for just one game. So if I were you I'd just put the 300 towards a decent laptop.

You're not going to get a gaming laptop for under $2000. You can get a laptop for under $1000 that ~might~ play high end games on low settings, but it will be extremely slow and choppy.

As others stated, build a gaming PC or get an Xbox. Gaming PC's are much cheaper than gaming laptops.

I used to be all about the cheap $300.00 laptops, but you're much better off spending double that just to get a laptop that will last more than a year and have some decent performance. It won't be a gaming laptop unless you consider playing apped based games as gaming.

Perhaps I'm being delusional, but I highly doubt that.

I know of someone who's $700 laptop can play games like bioshock infinite at 60 fps.

I stated the "open box" was 600. I've bought several "open box" computers from microcenter and have been pleased with all of them.

Do you really think that black Friday computers are any good? They are not.... In fact they are special items with low @ss specs that is going to get you nowhere..... Your budget pretty much means you are buying a slow laptop regardless of what you are doing and playing games on it is out of the question. Stop trying to be cheap and spend the $$ if you want to play. I will say this thou... Unless you have an Xbox or Gaming PC over $1000 you shouldn't even come close to Titanfall... Just forget about it.... Not happening buddy......

I would also recommend building a PC rig over a laptop.

Our game is going to burn laptops up baby!

I don't know.... parts are pretty cheap overtime. Did a big upgarde (RAM, mobo, and Processors) about 3 years ago and that was ~$400 after shopping around for some deals. Then I upgraded RAM to 16 GB on the super cheap <$70. And my last upgrade was just adding an 650 ti boost (<$150) that made it fine for almost all games I can push through it.

So much of the PC can be incrementally fixed and replaced overtime that it's not overly cost prohibitive.

I bought my laptop for about a $1000 bucks three years ago. I could run pretty much any game decently but now I definitely can only run high-end games on lower settings if at all. So even if your laptop would be able to play demanding games now, it won't be able to do it in a year or two.

And I don't think I'd ever buy an expensive hardware for a single game, let alone before its release date. What if Titanfall sucks?

This I think should be highlighted over and over again.

Say right now you want to play "just" one game on a laptop. You spend $700-$1000 toward that goal. In three years everyone will be raging about the newest game coming out, and suddenly you realize that the money you spent towards a relatively new gaming laptop may not be able to play this new game.

From personal experience, I spent $1k a few years back to buy a pretty damn good gaming laptop. But when Skyrim came out and all my friends where playing it, I couldn't stand playing it on lowest graphics. From then on after I never played another game on the PC because there's no point in playing a game if you're not getting your money's worth out of it.

    ________

Moral of the story (tldr): Laptop and computer cycles are faster than consoles. Think of how long the PS3 has been out? 7 years? There's no gaming laptop out there that can play top-tier games 7 years later. You're going to worry about graphics and logistics on the PC when games are meant to be played on the console.

Either spend a significant amount of money towards a gaming laptop ($2k+), build your own gaming computer ($1k+), or buy a console - for example, the PS4 coming out in November ($~400-500).

Amazon has it for $650. Just got this laptop, good all around. I'm not sure how serious your gaming is gonna be but from what I read, this laptop works well with most games. The graphics card is AMD though but it seems better than the Intel HD graphics 4000.
Big plus, its touch screen; windows 8 sucks without touch screen.

But others have said it will be possible. Why do so many PC-related questions get so many contradicting answers?

As to what your saying about the black friday computers...that's news to me. I'm sure the low ass specs laptops are the ones discounted the most, but I'm pretty sure the good laptops are also on a pretty decent discount, no?

Please report back how well that plays games.

Let me clarify. I don't want a gaming laptop, I want a laptop that is capable of playing games at decent quality. You probably didn't read all the replies on this thread, but I already stated that I will be buying the PS4 this November, and that will be my main gaming platform.

However, PS4 doesn't get TitanFall for at least a year, perhaps more, and I want that game on release. I also need a new laptop. So why not spend $200-$300 on a laptop that will not only be better in all other aspects than a crappy $300 that I originally planned on buying, but will also be able to run the game I want to play on it decently.

Usually gaming laptops are bulky and tend to be used at home. Don't expect to play battlefield 4 on some Macbook Slim-looking model.

ASUS definitely has some good ones. Also MSI.

Being a PC gamer, I say just buy/build a desktop.

I prefer console, which is why i'm buying a ps4.

I need a new laptop for everyday purposes, so my thought process is why not buy one a bit more expensive than I planned on buying if it will last longer than the cheap one i planned on buying and will also be able to play the game i want.

    so desktop isn't an option.

Because you are only wanting to hear what you want to hear. You are being vague about 'playing games'.

First, any laptop under $400 is going to be crap. You can run your facebook, pinterest, MSOffice and farmville with it ok, which is what most users only need, but if you want something that will last you more than a couple years w/out you wanting to throw it out the window, you will need to start out at your $600.00 range. That might run your WoW and other low intense games on the lowest settings.

What you need to understand is that if you even get the lowest performing laptop to run Titanfall, which is a very graphic intensive game, you will burn up the laptop in no time due to the heat. Having a weak CPU with limited memory, a weak graphics card and a poor design will shorten the life span of the laptop dramatically.

If I was to even recommend a laptop to play on low settings for titanfall, this is what i would recommend. This one is is shy of $1000. It has solid specs, and more importantly, a decent cooling system in it.

Otherwise, feel free to spend $500.00 on a laptop and tell us how it goes.

A gaming rig capable of supporting a graphical beast like Titanfall is gonna cost you at least 800.

500 XBone + 400 Laptop If in fact Titanfall is your only desire this is the better option, you can always resell the Xbox.
