You gotta pay FOR the guy. The biggest problem with this roster is once again the # of tradable contracts is minimized.

That said, would you do Asik/Smith - - Chuckster/Thompson? Nah, not me either.

With Dwight starting at C backed up by Asik and Camby, Chuck Hayes is the last player the Rockets need at any position.

Hayes is likely a better starting PF than anyone on the team. He was the starting PF next to Yao Ming for quite a while and that combo worked pretty well. Not a shooter but his high post passing and rebounding can help an offense.

Not sure you'd trade for him but if he gets bought out, I'd like him on the cheap.

I would take chuck back in a second, but we would have to send out almost 4 million in salary to make it happen. We have no candidates on the roster for that. As much as I like Chuck he is not worth Asik or Lin. DMo and TJones together do not have enough salary to make a trade happen even if Sac wanted them.

Seems pretty unlikely considering he has 2yrs left on his contract.

I don't think he fits this offense one bit.

I miss the chuckwagon as much as any of you, but do you guys honestly think he still has it? I'm asking only because I haven't watched a single Kings game in years

If Chuck can play for the Rockets like he used to, I would want him back on the team in a millisecond.

Back-up C after Asik gets traded and/or Camby doesn't hold up.

He can still do everything he could do before. Not sure that McHale could utilize him properly, I think Adelman and maybe Popovich are the only two coaches who can figure out how to make his passing ability part of a good offense.

Ship has sailed. Cheap or not, just say no to Chuck. Dwight doesn't need someone next to him that can't score outside of 3 feet. Rockets need a thoroughbred that can run the floor, not a tree stump the defense can completely ignore.

I loved Chuck when he was here too.

I love Chuck and I kind of agree that he's better than any PF we have right now. But there's a big difference between Yao and Howard. One can shoot. The other can't. One has an unstoppable low post game. The other doesn't.

Chuck Hayes is a great defensive player no matter what. But on offense, he needs a coach like Adelman to use his very underrated offensive IQ.
