Yes sir. I think Pharrell's "Get Lucky" was heavily infuenced by Sister Sledge "He's the Greatest Dancer".
In pop music, everyone mimics other older songs. Even if not entirely, they will mash up 2-3 songs to come up with a new one. Pop music is a science now, everyone knows what combination of sounds and melodies are catchy so they use it. That's why I like hip hop, there are artists that come up with something new. Beats are still fresh because it's a pretty new genre. It hasn't gotten formulaic like pop yet
You have to understand that this occurs in hip hop as well, but done better. In hip hop terms, this is called sampling. When hip hop artists(or producers and dj's) sample other music, they seem do so in a more creative way than pop. IMO, Kanye West is one of the best to do it alongside with DJ Screw. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_(music) <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/bBljPO36Lps" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Umm hip hop has been stealing classic oldie melodies for ages and adding a hiphop track /verse on top of those songs...
Wow... you must be an awesome guy with great looking girls all around if they are unattractive. That said, compared to the brunette... it must have been shocker to the two other models... in every way beautiful women, then they see the brunette walk in...
yes i know what sampling is. There is a huge distinction between sampling and copying songs. All hip hop songs with samples actually credit the original and they all must get permission from the original artists to use them. This is different from pop where it seems like melodies are recycled or modified a tiny bit and become a new song.
Yeah I get what your point is. Pop is kinda in a lazy stance right now, where you could almost instantly identify repetitive melodies.
You must be thirteen. Educate yourself and go listen to 'Paul's Boutique' by the Beastie Boys. You're welcome.
This. All those kids should be strapped down Clockwork Orange style and forced to listen to that on repeat
Who cares about the Blurred Lines video? It's all about Emily Ratajkowski! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73KLnADwJZ8 OT: Honestly though, song's pretty catchy.
