You guys might be right. I still say that they have used relatively high first round picks over the past two years on John Henson and Giannis Antetokuonmpo. In my opinion, they would like for Hensom to be the starting PF and for Antetokuonmpo to get about 15 minutes/game off the bench. And I don't see why you'd want to pay Caron Butler $8 mil to be a backup. And it also seems to me that the Brandon Knight acquisition was more about getting something (rather than nothing) for the unwanted Brandon Jennings. I believe they would like to upgrade at PG if possible.

Although I admit these are all just inferences on my part. Obviously I have no inside information. I think I'm right, though!

I think he has a year of playing in the D League ahead of him. Maybe in the East a team can survive with him playing that many minutes. He looks very raw. That said, if the Rocket made a trade with the Bucks, he's the guy that I hope is in the deal. He looks like he could be a stretch four that hit the three and take his man of the dribble...it will just take him time to develop.

ALL-Star....yeah barely. The Hawks would be more inclined to go after a legit center instead of dressing Horford up to be one. I hate Horford at the 5. I think he is a legit STar at the 4 but his situation has not permitted....until now.Milsap is seemingly the same player in my eyes....

    Horford/Milsap<<< Asik/Milsap

Time for a change in the ATL....

    Jeremy Lin + Greg Smith

    for

    Nene Hilario

Nene is an interesting player because he posts a career 60% TS, while getting to the line at a good rate. His RAPM last year was about +3.8, mostly on the defensive end. He is a legit 6-11 and has been forced to play out of position at C, when he has said in the past he is much more comfortable as a PF. He is expensive and kills our cap space for 2015, but we know Morey has targeted him in the past (to pair with Gasol), however this allows us to keep Asik which would be huge. We aren't losing much Lin/Smith, as we have capable replacements.

    New lineup:

    Beverley / Brooks / Cannan
    Harden / Garcia / Brewer
    Parsons / Casspi
    Nene / Jones / Dmo
    Howard / Asik / Camby

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'd love Horford as our 4/5, which is what we need, rather than two "5/5" players. I know Atlanta has coveted Asik but they asked for Asik and Parsons at the trade deadline for Josh Smith and that dog wasn't gonna hunt.

I don't know if Morey will continue in the search for a true stretch 4 or will try to keep/buttress that frontcourt. And Horford might be an expensive "get", so I won't even bother posting a trade idea (Asik + Dmo + Worthless Draft Pick + A Less Attractive Rockets Power Dancer) to get him.

Yeah this is great,I mean it only makes Atlanta better and the Rockets would solve their PF/backup center problem.

Horford is a better center than Asik so I don't agree with that formula. A lot of value in a center who can shoot, handle, pass and still hold his own defensively. He's basically a prototypical modern run and gun center, and Atlanta has surrounded him with shooters and runners.

Would he be better at PF? Maybe, I'd love to see them try him at PF full time. But I don't think they are desperate.

If they want to move Horford to 4, they should trade Millsap or some of their youngsters for a center.

Just gauging the boards opinion on the availability of Shawn Marion. Cuban was looking to shed his contractin pursuit of Howard. But now that the Mavs are back to status quo "win now" mode for that 14th pick. I wonder if dealing Marion would be a perception conflict for Cubans ego.

Would Marion for DMo and a 1st using Philly as a facilitator and handing them Greg Smith and a 2nd for their trouble make all parties involved happy?

    Howard / Asik / Camby
    Marion / Jones / Casspi
    Parsons / (Marion) / Williams
    Harden / Garcia / Brewer
    Lin / Bev / Brooks / Canaan

The squad commits to small ball and has a full year to mesh.
Marion fits the mold of what the team needs at the 4: Plus defender/rebounder/stretches the floor; and he adds versatility to play the 3.
On top of that he is only a one year commitment and could be re-upped at a more reasonable tag next year if it turns out to be the right fit.

I really like this idea. He'd bring some championship experience to this team. He and Parsons would be a hell of a defensive duo.

Could we trade Jones instead of D-MO though?

As CH mentioned, the salary cap math doesn't work for such a deal. However, if the Rockets elect not to go "all in" for 2015 cap room and give Parsons his long-term deal next summer, I would consider Marion as a candidate for (most of) the MLE in 2014 . . . assuming Marion shows few signs of decline this season.

    yep, honest mistake.

but at 35, part of Marion's appeal is being in the last year of his deal..because he is a "win now" piece.

that being said I would gladly add Lin to my previous package to make the math work, just based on how it evens out the roster.

I will ready the flame suit...

Horford is honestly one of the most realistic of the legit PF trade targets I've heard - certainly more doable than Love/LMA unless MIN/POR implode (certainly possible as well). Asik and a PF project seems like it could do the job and solve problems for both teams.

I wouldn't mind some Channing Frye. Would give around 11-12 points 7-8 boards a block, while shooting approximately 40% from 3pt range.

Ersan Ilyasova would also be a nice addition...it would give Omer some one to talk to in his native tongue, as well as around about 14pts 8 boards a steal and 45% on his 3 pointers.

Patrick Patterson would've been a perfect fit for this current Rockets team...Dwight would've masked his rebounding deficiency and given him a great deal of open looks.

Kevin Love would be the ultimate addition, & I still believe it could happen, either straight up or in the 3 way deal with Portland that I mentioned earlier in this thread.

    Harden/Asik for Batum and Aldridge

We get the power forward that we needed whom is in his prime. Batum is a much much better defender than Harden and a much improved offensive player.

    Dwight
    Aldridge
    Parsons
    Batum
    Lin
