I think the Texans have wanted Johnson to win the job from the start and have given him every opportunity to do so. He's been the first RB off the bench. He's returning punts and kicks. Karim has returned 2 kickoffs all preseason and Wood hasn't returned anything.

Even though Wood has done nothing but impress and I think even Deji has done better, it would not shock me if the Texans went with Johnson as the 3rd RB.

Hopefully this fumble helps Woods' chances.

Johnson bobbled the punt return, now fumbled the ball. I hope Wood makes it.

I actually think Johnson lost his spot with the muffed punt. Only way he was making the team was if he did so as a runner and returner. Martin is a better returner. Karim is just as good at both and he has experience.

Because Cierre Wood hasn't practiced as well as the other two, doesn't block well and doesn't contribute anything on special teams.

Don't see why they need the 3rd RB to contribute on ST. Martin is clearly our best returner. Several other players can do it as well. You gotta go with the best runner. #rd RB is an imprtant position. Look at Forset last year. And whoever we had before that (forget who it was; Ward?).

Yeah, if we were looking for a #2, he'd be golden and is probably going to land on someone else's roster but we need a RB that can play Special teams in a pinch because we need bodies and they probably want someone besides Martin and Manning to handle the returns in case of injuries.

45 minutes for officially being football time in Houston.

One thing I've noticed about Lestar Jean is that he quits on plays.

Why can't Wood do Kick returns? He's probably fastest back we have

yeah, but you don't just let a guy like Wood go. You keep him and you find someone else at a different position that can play teams.

There is more to special teams than the just the returner, not to mention the team probably wants to have more than one competent returner before they have to go Daniel Manning.

Manning returning days are over. He was horrendous in the playoffs last year.

I've said it before and I will say it again - Wood reminds me A LOT of Foster.

If he doesn't make this team, it's because he got a screw job. When given a chance, he's played wonderfully. Problem is - for some reason, he hasn't been given a ton of chances. Part of me wonders if that's because the Texans fear not being able to get him to the practice squad.

I understand that. But neither Johnson or karim are doing anything on ST other than returning. They're too small. In fact, aside from returns, I think Wood would be a better ST player just because of his size. Also, Keo and Posey can return, and others in a pinch.
